Hello fellow players,

I bought the game today and could play the first mission.
Then I restarted the game to plug my 360 pad in.
Now the game crashes on the loading screen of the first mission (escort Perry to El Topos Asylum)
An error message pops up that says:
setPixelFormat() failed: cannot set format specified.

The strange thing is: I reinstalled the game and could play the 1st mission again - after restarting the game, it will crash again.

Do you have an idea to help me?

Additional info:
- I play the German version
- I tried it with VSync turned of (in the nglide_config.exe)
- Win7 64bit
- I tried with pad plugged in and out

Thank you,

luhbaer

Try a different video output for Dosbox and see what happens.

Hello,

I'm sorry, could you give more detailed instructions?
I'm not familiar with Dosbox.

What I tried in the meantime:
I followed the Instructions here:
http://www.gog.com/forum/archimedean_dynasty/turning_off_texture_filtering_in_3dfx_mode_using_software_rendering_cockpit_off
and turned off 3dfx rendering.
I can now do the mission several times in a row ^^

But how can I change the resolution in software mode?
Usually Dosbox games on GOG are shipped with a tool that let you select a different videomode.
AFAIK 3dfx Archimedean Dynasty still uses the Dosbox videomode for the 2D sections of the game so choosing a different one might solve your problem.

Ok -
I reinstalled a 3rd time and deactivated Vsync before starting the game for the first time.
Now it works :)
