The GOG page has this as a 1GB download. My own copy of the game (I don't have it on GOG, yet) is only about 630MB installed and I can compress the folder with WinRAR to just 460MB. It isn't as if I've cut out any movies or anything, and I even have the CD tracks saved in OGG format so that DOSBox can read them via a .CUE file.

So, why is the GOG version 1GB? Does it have the full CD image present effectively duplicating files or providing unused installation files instead of having a cut down CD image for just what is needed to run the game from the GOG installation?
Funny thing is the original German version also available on GoG is 617 MB. Compared to the 972 MB for the English version. I have no idea why the English version is bigger.
I compared the english and german versions from GOG. The english version stores more files in the game directory. Mainly the folder GFX/MVI (470MB) but also files in MUSIC, SFX/SND, TXT. In the german version these files are only in the CD image and not in the game directory.

I remember copying all game files from the CD to the harddrive years ago when I was messing around with Archimedean Dynasty game files. These files are not installed when the game is installed from CD and the game usually loads these files from the CD only. So maybe the files were copied to the game directory during development and then forgotten?

But I tried to delete the GFX/MVI folder and the game crashed when an autopilot film should have been shown. So maybe the files were copied to the game directory because of a problem with english version. Or
