So I can get the game running with Unofficial Patch and all,but whenever I install the High Res patch and start the game it's corrupted and broken blue start up screen that breaks the game.

Anyone knows any fixes?
There are a few posts about this buried within the stickied thread. Basically, if changing the resolution doesn't seem to work, just uninstall it; you don't really need it, especially if you've already installed the unofficial patch.
Then how do I get the windowed mode to work?Or at least where do I type -no3d command?

Right-click on the icon you use to launch the game; click on Properties.

If the Shortcut tab isn't already open, switch to it.

In the Target box, after what's already there ("C:\GOG Games\Arcanum\Arcanum.exe") add -no3d

At the same time, you might want to add -scrolldist:0 -scrollfps:70 as well; this is a neat trick that allows you infinite scrolling, rather than being limited by your PC's perception score.

The whole thing should look like: "C:\GOG Games\Arcanum\Arcanum.exe" -no3d -scrolldist:0 -scrollfps:70

Save the change and launch the game, and see if this solves your issue. Best of luck.

As usual, I have nothing intellegent to add. But what is "scrolling", that your parameter fixes? That term usually refers to menu or list behaviour, but I can't imagine that PE would be involved in such a thing.

In the game, PE limits how far away you can drag the screen away from your PC's current location. IIRC, every point adds about 1 cm. (1/2 inch) in each direction. This affects, among other things, how easy it is for your character to ambush or be ambushed.

The fix disables this, allowing you to scroll as far as you like, making it easier to find and prepare for upcoming encounters, or see which direction you need to head (for example, in a dungeon). It doesn't nerf the game: you can still only act as far as your PC could normally see; and if you get lost, you can always start again by toggling map mode.
