Hello there. I am having an issue with playing the game. After I create my character and watch the opening cinematic, the only thing I can see is the interface. The view field is entirely black and the text of the opening converstaion just stacks over top of each other. Even after advancing through the converstaion, nothing clears up, all of the text just stays where it is at. If I do click somewhere, my character starts to walk there and you can see a shadow move across the screen to the point where I clicked. This is happening on both of my laptops running Windows 10 and Intel chips with integrated graphics. Thank you in advance for the assistance with this issue.

The game is not really playable on Windows 10 as is. Arcanum is using the nowadays deprecated DirectDraw API, which is only poorly emulated on Windows 10.

You'd need some kind of a compatibility wrapper to transfer DirectDraw calls to Direct3D. I'd recommend DDrawCompat. Download it from GitHub (I can't seem to post the link, just google "DDrawCompat") and overwrite the ddraw.dll in your Arcanum folder.

This should really be stickied, too many threads with this very issue. Maybe GOG should include a similar wrapper with the game and automatically install it on Windows 8 and later.
@nolen3110215 Have you installed the recommended patches from the sticky at top of forum?

I had same issue on my Win10 machine when I initially downloaded the game from GOG, however after installing the patches the problem has gone away and I've had no problems playing the game other than getting severe lag at times while inside buildings/underground.
