I installed it recently and it will not start. The only thing that happens is my screen goes completely black and there is no sound, no loading and I can't do anything. I have to hard reset my computer each time. I'm running Win 8.1.

I have done the following and it still doesn't work:
- running a clean install with no extra patches
- installing the patches one by one in the sticky (unofficial, HiRes, HQ Map)
- running arcanum.exe in administrator mode
- adding the -no3d -doublebuffer to the shortcut

I'm at a complete loss here.
