We use a MayFlash adapter with original SNES gamepad. However, it cannot be configured in Ara Fell. Yet the game uses some buttons: Up/Down on the gamepad is Left/Right in the game, for example - a wrong input. This would be no problem if the gamepad support could be deactivated altogether. Then users could use external programs to map keys from the keyboard to gamepad buttons. However, with the game interfering, with wrong directions, and seemingly no way to turn off the gamepad support, it's not possible. Really keeps us from playing. Using the keyboard is not as fun as using the gamepad.
I know this is a few years late, but if you're still having issues, just get yourself an XBox360 gamepad(wired of course) and all is well.
