The first time I run Aquanox 2 after installing it, I get a D3D error. When I run it a second time, it asks me to reset the configuration to default values. Regardless of wether I do so or not, the game starts and I hear the sound of the intro videos and the menu (I can even start the game by clicking blind) but the screen stays black. Is there any way to fix this?
I am using Windows 7 x64 and an Nvidia Geforce 260GTX card with latest drivers.
Disabling the second monitor did the trick. :)
Disable my second monitor?
No other way around it? :( like editing some option in a configuration file?
I was having the same problem with this tonight. Black screen + sounds. Win 7 64-bit, GTX460, newest Nvidia drivers.

Did an internet search and found an answer on the Steam forums.

Try going to your "Documents" folder, locate the "Aquanox 2" subfolder. Inside will be a config.txt file. Open it and change the display values at the bottom to your main monitor's resolution. In my case it was 1680x1050.

Worked like a charm! I opened the game up a couple times just to be sure and it loaded fine. Haven't played it yet, but no black screens any more.

Edit: You'll have to select "No" when it asks you if you want to switch back to default graphics settings when you load it up the first time. It only asks this the first time you load it up after changing the config file.

Those crazy guys, hiding the config inside the documents folders.

Thx, i was looking for it the file in the wrong place :P

**EDIT**: well, i couldn't find the file, but i found how to make it work without disabling the second monitor. Disabled aero and it worked.

Hmm. If you hit your start button and do a search for 'config.txt' it should show it under Documents.

Alternately,
My file path in Windows 7 is:

C:\Users\[User Name]\Documents\AquaNox2\Config.txt
Both Aquanox 1 and 2 were crashing for me trying to run them on a modern system with Windows 10, but the above solution worked perfectly. Doesn't even need to match my actual desktop resolution. Setting it to 1280x960 in the config file works just fine. Here's the locations of the config files on my system:

Aquanox 1:
Users\[User Name]\Appdata\Roaming\AquaNox\config_1_18.txt

Aquanox 2:
Documents\Aquanox2\config.txt
Will the text file accept 1080p? thanks
