So far I really enjoyed the game until Holmgard and Ally that is rather issue than help. When they capture village they build just one watchtower and completely ignore upgrading resource nodes so it is rather hard to both defend and also rush to capture villages because the Ally Ai ignores defending and just rush forward/flee and time to time manages to capture something. Either do not allow Ai to capture villages in this mission or let me gain control over them or simply tweak Ally Ai so they prioritize resource nodes claiming. Current state is very frustrating because my troops starved with -2 food while Ai has village with no resource nodes worked by villages :(
It is good that difficulty can be adjusted on fly. I after several attempts had to lower it to easy to be able to rush all villages before Ally can capture them. Once I have captured all villages I increased the difficulty level back but the Ai in this mission surely needs fixing!

Thank you for reporting it. I have noticed that in one of the following missions Ai automatically gives you control of any village they accidentally capture so it could be one way to fix it.

Yeah that's one way. Another is to make sure that the AI always recruits to farms, mines, etc. The designer responsible for the mission will probably choose one of those.
Hello! I've also noticed the same problem with this mission.

I've also noticed that in the main base (bottom right), the AI units just tend to stay there without really offering assistance if you get into a fight close to them.
