am I supposed to survive with absolutely no ammo? Im on my way to lovers peak and met that gang of taken with that huge dude with an axe leading them. ive tried running away but for some reason they can run at the speed of sound and hit you, or just snipe you with their lvl 9000 axe throwing skills. I always die 1 or 2 metres in front of the next "safe haven". Also Alan has the stamina of an obese rhino with asthma.
The dodge key. It's the same as the sprint key. Just tap it when a guy is about to hit you or when you hear an axe flying for your head.

I don't recall having trouble with ammo in this game. Just focus your light at a dude until he breaks then pap pap pap until he's dead, occasionally dodging so you don't get hit. I found running away usually wasn't the best tactic, since Alan has lungs like raisins.

Pap Pap Pap? Well I guess I made it... I ran back and found some more ammo. And I dodged the big dude, so he ran past me into the light and died. Thanks for the help though...
It's best you learn how to get out of situations like these because there are some more "gauntlets" coming up later in the story. Simply running is not enough. You need to slow down your pursuers by burning them with your flash light until they stagger. The thrown axes are not sailing through the air all that fast. You can sidestep them at a distance, and by tapping the sprint/dodge key, Alan will duck and dart to the side automatically even at close range.

It can get pretty hectic and nightmarish at times. Some segments of the game however there is little use in shooting or throwing grenades. Just work the flash light to slow down The Taken and keep moving towards the next safe haven. I found this part of the gameplay very refreshing and exciting.

Yes it sure is very exciting but also very frustrating. But those highspeed taken are the worst even if you have plenty of ammo left. they just run around like crazy and keep babbling stuff.
The worst thing about these encounters is that you never know if you are supposed to run or fight. There are some segments with infinitely respawning enemies, some have just the initial bunch, while others just have a few waves of enemies coming. I found it best to dispose of all enemies before moving forward, but it sucks if you have already wasted ammo and discovered you are in one of those infinite segments and should have run in the first place.
