Hi folks,
I've just started playing AoW and I'm confused about channeling points during combat. My hero has lvl 1 Spellcasting, and in any given battle I can only fire off about one spell because I only have 10 channeling points. I have plenty of mana, so that's no issue. But the channeling points don't seem to regenerate at all. Is this normal? Do casters only get about 1 spell per battle?

You will get more channeling points once you level up your spellcasting level, which regarding your question basically means you'll be able to cast more spells during a battle.

Channeling points regenerate at the start of each turn. Since combat is all done in a single turn channeling points don't regenerate while in combat, what you start out with for that particular battle is all you have.
Thanks, Namur.
It's disappointing that the points don't recharge during battle... so many spells, so little chance to use them.

You're welcome.

Keep pumping points into your spellcasting level. I think you get 10 channeling points per spellcasting level, so it's totally worth it ;)
Remember you can also get more channeling points by crafting items with Casting Specialist on them, then giving them to a hero.

Or, for your wizard, there is a structure you can build in your city that adds 10 points to the wizard's channeling points.

Additionally, getting at least one hero up to Spell Casting IV will let him cast two major area or full-group destructive spells, which can make an enormous difference in battle.

I really love having multiple spell casters in groups, because sometimes you face a lot of archers on castle walls and they are very tough on even the best troops ... until your wizard and then one or two of your heroes hits them with an area strike or an "all enemies" strike ... at which point things become much easier.

Spell Casting IV is a great way to make a hero that is very weak in physical combat and/or has very low defense and hitpoints into an experience-stealing force to be reckoned with, too. All while safely out of range ...
