So many posts here deal with troubleshooting; just wondering what people think of the actual game itself, tasks, quests, storylines, immersiveness, etc. Is it engrossing/engaging?

I have it but I've barely gotten into it; too busy at the moment with Balrum, Grim Dawn, and Legends of Eisenwald.
It's great.

One of the best RPGs I have ever played. That could be partly because the unique setting appeals to me (being more grounded in reality - both in terms of gameworld as well as politics/plot - compared to most RPGs), it has detailed turn-based combat (that can be quite challenging at times), plus it has a good combination (IMO) of single-playthrough length and many paths possible per playthrough.

AFAIK there's a demo of it which features almost 1/3 of the game if you want to try it out, though I don't recall where it's hosted.
Good, but probably not for everyone. It does have some flaws (at some point I was frustrated with it and gave it a 3/5 rating), and it's a bit too relentlessly cynical for my taste (a bit much vulgarity as well)...but on the other hand, it's one of the most unique games I've ever played, mature in a positive way. This really goes beyond the standard good/evil stuff found in most RPGs. The combat system is great, challenging but fun, you have a lot of options. And the different backgrounds really do play differently. Pity there aren't more games like that.
