Turrican II: The Final Fight

Turrican II: The Final Fight (1991)

Genres:Platform, Shooter
Themes:Action, Science fiction
Game modes:Single player
Story:Turrican II: The Final Fight is a platformer/shooter as typically seen on consoles, but designed for home computers from the ground up. Its plot is - naturally - very simple: an evil mega-robot called The Machine attacks the United Planets Ship Avalon 1, slaughtering all who resist. All - except Bren McGuire, who manages to escape and slips into the experimental Turrican bionic armor. As Turrican, he strives to show The Machine who's the boss. Unlike other games of its type, this game contains three levels of horizontal shooter action in the spirit of R-Type or the developers' own Katakis. Six large worlds are to be explored, where you are basically free to go everywhere you want, since there is no automatic scrolling and the levels are packed with hidden extra lives and weapons. All those levels are very different: the first one in the rock desert is pretty colorful with parallaxing rainbow background and happy music, while the following worlds get darker and darker.Show more

Good old Amiga 500 times… this classic alongside a few more great games of that era were my most favorite games I played over and over again. Running this on Win10/11 without any emulation stuff would be just awesome :) Cheers

Turrican 2 is my alltime favorite Run'n'Gun. I played it up and down on the Amiga and still play it today. There's actually a great MS-DOS port done by Sun-Project, which runs fine in DOSBox, if you replace the configuration file on every start with a default one. The graphics are improved to 256 VGA colors, I am not a big fan of the altered character design however. Two years ago I was able to snag the game + original box, after owning it as part of a collection a long time ago. On itch.io you can find a version that ported the VGA version to Amiga AGA. The programmer also added (optional, deactivable in the main menu for the "original" feeling) enhancements, better multi button gamepad support, the ability to look down, you can pick your character design and there are some new secret areas in the levels. If you find all, you unlock a special ending. This is the best version to play in my eyes, runs on PC in FS-UAE without problems.

James Bond 007: Nightfire
James Bond 007: Nightfire007: Nightfire is a first-person shooter featuring the character of the British secret agent James Bond and a sequel to Agent Under Fire. The game marked Pierce Brosnan's fourth appearance as James Bond before the release of his fourth and final Bond film Die Another Day. His likeness was featured in the game, but not his voice, which was provided by Maxwell Caulfield. Overall there are many weapons that the player can carry including grenades of various sorts and other types of explosives. In addition, there are numerous amounts of mounted weapons found throughout the game. As with previous James Bond games, the weapons that appear are based on actual weapons, but with the names changed. Some weapons appear in the console version but not the PC version, and vice-versa.
