Snowmobile Championship 2000

Snowmobile Championship 2000 (1999)

by Second South Studios, GT Interactive Software
Genres:Sport, Racing
Story:In Snowmobile Championship 2000, a bargain-bin snowmobile racing game from GT Interactive, you get to race against four other AI drivers in one of eight locations. The races take place in some of the world’s most beautiful winter settings, including the Canadian Rockies, Minnesota Lake, Iowa Farmland, Maine Forest, Yellowstone Park, Scottish Highlands, German Village, and Japanese Field. Varied terrain elements present challenges and opportunities, including Moguls, Ice, Mud, and Turns. How you take a turn, or whether you choose to ski over the moguls or choose a landlocked course around them, are all bits of strategy that can move you to the front of the pack, or send you to last place depending on your skill. You can either compete in the official “Race” mode, or enter the “Practice” mode which lets you improve your skills on any of the eight different tracks. Game controls are all keyboard based. Up Arrow to accelerate, Right Arrow to turn to the right, Left Arrow to turn to the left. Brake or Stop just by lifting your finger off the accelerator key. Options are available to modify your point of view (3rd person far, 3rd person close-up, and 1st person), resolution (up to 640x480), and level of detail (low, medium, or high). You can also toggle on/off the digital statistics (time, lap indicator, and speed) on the HUD.Show more

for bargain bin shovelware this game is FUN. Rocking soundtrack, fun little details scattered along trackside, stiff, but nice feeling controls, and the GORGEOUSLY pixelated texture graphics are awesome. It's also a PIA to run on modern os's, so having it be easy to play would be great!

Pokémon HeartGold
Pokémon HeartGoldPokémon HeartGold Version and Pokémon SoulSilver Version are paired Generation IV remakes of the Generation II games Pokémon Gold and Silver. Much like how Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen revisited the Generation I story of Kanto, HeartGold and SoulSilver retell the story of Johto, with the player's starting town being New Bark Town. While the games feature several expansions in key areas, the overall plot follows the same direction as the original Gold and Silver. Some aspects exclusive to Crystal are also included. Like how FireRed and LeafGreen could link up with Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald to complete the Pokédex by trading regionally exclusive Pokémon, HeartGold and SoulSilver can link up with Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum to obtain Pokémon unavailable in Johto and Kanto (such as the Sinnoh starters) and vice versa. Kris, despite being the female counterpart of Crystal's player character, is not included as the female player character, with a new character instead taking her place. Whether she is chosen to be the player character or not, this new character will still appear in the game. The unselected protagonist will take a pseudo-rival role similar to the unselected characters of Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum. The games were released on September 12, 2009 in Japan, February 4, 2010 in Korea, March 14, 2010 in North America, March 25, 2010 in Australia and March 26, 2010 in Europe (this excludes the Netherlands, Luxembourg and parts of Belgium due to an in-game save error, with the patched copies later released on April 2, 2010).
