This game is a "must be" for everbody who loves the games of the Civ series. I still have the original disks and a cd for 32-bit pcs of the Civ Chronicles compilation - but I cannot run them on my 64-bit pc. An electronical version at GOG that runs on 64-bit pcs is needed.

I was late to this game. I came from the Mega Drive (Genesis) and had no prior experience with PC games. I played it on my Dads old work Intel 386 Computer. It must be somewhen around 1996. The game was dirt cheap in the gamestore. One or two Deutsche Mark. I loved it. I had no idea what I was doing. But it was fun. At least until the oponents got Nuclear Bombs. Because then with every interactino they threaten me with their bombs and I always lost. Until today. I still like to play Civilization games. But I totally suck at it.

The first game I started playing in the evening and suddenly it was morning... Just a flashback to the first half of the '90s. Thanks to the emulation in Magic DosBox, I still run it on my android tablet. Simply brilliant. :)

I honestly regard this game as the most influential computer game ever written and it baffles me why so many of the games it inspired are available, but this one isn't. I almost failed my last year at school because of it, and would love to be easily able to play it today without serious consequences.

One of the first games I ever played at PC. Since then, I have played all games of the series, even Beyond Earth and call to Power. The definition of a classic!

Educational game, and a pleasure to play. I spent too long thinking about the game mechanics when I wasn't playing it. This is where it all started. And hey, it sure broadens the perspective for a high schooler.

Fantastic game. Just a great game. How you adapt a boardgame and make it a fun computer game. This is the one to start with if you want to play Civ. It only makes sense to let people buy it!

Civilization 1 was the first game I played for hours with friends. We divided all the different units among ourselves. Even though we sometimes had to wait a long time for our turn, this new game system was so fascinating that we never got bored. When we didn't fully understand the game yet, we built a really small island completely full of cities. To this day, this remains a fond memory in our group of friends.

Black & White 2
Black & White 2In the game, the player takes the role of a god called from the void (nothingness) to help those who invoked them. However, the player is not an omnipotent style god, but rather a god who rises and falls with his believers and the player must help develop their nature according to their good or evil desires. The player also has a creature, their physical representation in the world, which takes the form of an anthropomorphic ape, lion, wolf, turtle, cow, or tiger. Its physical manifestation can grow to an immense size, and adopt a good or evil persona separate of the player's. They develop their character as the player rewards or punishes their actions. In addition to the god simulation and city-building elements introduced in the original Black & White, Black & White 2 also features elements of real-time strategy gameplay, with the addition of controllable warfare and fighting units.

Dune blended adventure with economic and military strategy, and is considered by many the most immersive Dune computer game. As the player progresses, his troops are equipped with weapons from "crysknives" to atomics, tap into Paul's latent psychic powers, and get acquainted with such characters from the book as Chani and Liet-Kynes.

Dune II: The Building of a Dynasty
Dune II: The Building of a DynastyDune II is often considered the first mainstream modern real-time strategy game and established many conventions of the genre. Even though set in Frank Herbert's famous Dune universe, the game is only loosely connected to the plot of any of the books or the films based from them. Controlling either of the three Houses, the player must fight a number of battles against the other Houses. In the early levels, the goal is simply to earn a certain number of credits, while in the later missions, all enemies must be destroyed. The single resource in the game is the Spice, which must be collected by harvesters. The spice is converted to credits in a refinery, which are then spent to construct additional buildings and units. There are two terrain types: buildings can only be constructed on stone, while the Spice is only found on sand. However, units moving on sand attract the large sandworms of Dune, who are virtually indestructible and can swallow even large units whole. As levels progress, new and more advanced buildings and units are made available, including structures like a radar station, a repair facility or defense turrets and, for units, various ground troops, light vehicles and tanks. Each House can construct one unique special unit, and, after building a palace improvement, can unleash a unique palace effect.
