Late 00s nostalgia. I remember playing this with my brother around the time it came out, and then played with a good friend some years after that. Good times.
It's unmistakably late 00s in its feel, featuring an aesthetic filled with gratuitous contrast and bloom for an HDR-esque effect (not unlike Shadow of the Colossus). The gameplay is super solid--ya gotta love that Capcom refrained from going full Gears of War here and chose to stay with tense mechanics. Mix that with the most unique environments in the entire Resident Evil series, adept sound design, and a decent story, and the outcome is horror game excellence: an experience that manages to be spooky no matter how bright and sunny the game may look. You can't say a lot of games have pulled something like that off.
This game would run buttery smooth on a PC of today (or from a decade ago). Silky performance in, arguably, the cult classic of the Resident Evil series?
How could you say no?
