This game's story is kinda tragic, it was really ambitious, the developers worked together with PatMat Studio to make it as authentic to the show as possible. Development began around 2006-2007, and from what I can see from early footage and screenshots, the beta had much more content than the final release. Even if it was more rough around the edges. Around the same time PatMat began producing a new season of Pat & Mat, "Pat & Mat in the Countryside". I imagine due to this development the dev team had to rework or scrap a lot of concepts.
Finally, in 2009 the game released, alongside the premiere of the new season's 1st episode. The game consists of "episodes" which are basically chapters of a story mode. Each episode consists of 1 mission stage and 3 mini-games. The problem is, the game released with only 1 episode! In the main menu you can see an option to install additional content via discs (would've probably been downloadable DLC in the online store release). These discs never released, and therefore the rest of the game went unreleased. As well as planned (possibly in development) DS and Xbox 360 ports.
The developer pretty much abandoned the project, eventually removing it from online stores in 2020. Making this game increasingly hard to obtain legitimately, as physical releases are becoming more scarce. I luckily have a friend who owns a copy and got a full playthrough of it. The gameplay and mechanics are pretty creative, you take control of both Pat and Mat, controlling one at a time. Interacting with items and environment to make steps toward solving a problem. For example, Pat can equip a chainsaw to cut down a fence, then Mat can construct a pull out of the planks with a toolbox.
I would've really liked to see how the developers utilized this in different missions and scenarios, maybe even recreating some episodes from older seasons like (the recent at the time) Pat & Mat Return. I know this game is shallow in content, but it deserves a 2nd chance.
