Mafia II is more than just a crime game—it’s a cinematic experience. Set in the 1940s and ‘50s, it tells the story of Vito Scaletta, a young Italian-American trying to rise through the ranks of Empire Bay’s criminal underworld. With its richly detailed world, gripping story, and incredible soundtrack, Mafia II is often considered a masterpiece of storytelling in gaming.
And the Director’s Cut is the definitive version.
It includes all the original DLCs—Joe’s Adventures, Jimmy’s Vendetta, and The Betrayal of Jimmy—plus added outfits and cars. It expands the game’s world and gives players a deeper look into the characters, motivations, and consequences behind every action. It’s the version that fans deserve to experience.
But sadly, finding the Director’s Cut today isn’t easy. The game was delisted and re-released in a “Definitive Edition” that, while updated visually, lacks the atmosphere and authenticity of the original. Some music was changed or removed, and many fans agree it lost part of its soul in the remastering process.

Shin Megami Tensei II retains all the gameplay features of the previous game. The player is able to summon demons, fuse them to create more powerful ones, make them participate in battles, talk to random enemies and receive information from them, etc. The combat is turn-based, and the player explores the complex, maze-like dungeons from a first-person perspective view. Like in the first game, the Law, Chaos, and Neutral alignments play an important role: during the course of the game, the player will have to make choices that influence the alignment of the protagonist, steering the storyline into different directions.
