Back in high school, I got my hands on the original Duke Nukem 3D game. I managed to convince someone on a bulletin board to send it to me over dial-up (remember those slow speeds?). Back then, there were no limits on how much data you could send in an email. My friends and I spent countless hours playing and modding this game. I’m sure we clocked in hundreds of hours into it. I even created a bunch of multiplayer maps that we would play until we were bored out of our minds. I’m a huge fan of Duke Nukem 3D, and I’d be thrilled if the updated version was released on GoG. I have so many fond memories of playing it, and I’m excited about the new quality-of-life improvements. It would be amazing to have a DRM-free copy of this classic game for me and my kids to enjoy for years to come. (Don’t worry, the developers have gotten their fair share of money from me. I’ve bought this game multiple times since then).
**Why *Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary World Tour* Needs to Be on GOG — The Best Remaster of a 90s FPS Icon** *Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary World Tour* is hands-down the **best way to play Duke Nukem 3D**, and it absolutely deserves a spot on GOG for preservation, accessibility, and DRM-free glory. What makes this version so special? It’s not just a repackage — it’s a **true celebration of the legacy** of Duke. The World Tour includes the original episodes *and* an all-new fifth episode, **"Alien World Order,"** with brand-new levels designed by the original creators (Allen Blum III and Richard “Levelord” Gray). These levels are some of the most creative and polished Duke maps ever made — fast-paced, explosive, and packed with secrets. And then there’s the **"True3D" rendering mode**, which retains the classic visual style while smoothing out the jagged edges and glitches from older builds. It’s not a total overhaul — it respects the original — but it makes it run **buttery smooth on modern hardware**. Even better: they brought back **Jon St. John** to re-record Duke’s lines with better quality, and they added **new voice lines**, making Duke even more ridiculous and over-the-top than before. It’s a love letter to 90s shooter fans. While there are other versions of Duke 3D, this is the **most complete, enhanced, and faithful** edition — and it’s still underrated compared to remasters of other 90s FPS games like *DOOM* or *Quake*. GOG is the perfect platform for it: no DRM, great support for classic titles, and a passionate retro PC community. This version **respects the past**, enhances it just enough, and lets Duke go out guns blazing. Hail to the king, baby — it’s time this masterpiece found its place on GOG.

While the sound is not that good (weird mixing and effects ingame) a,d there is a weird delay when choosing a weapon using scroll wheel or controller buttons, and the added bells & whistles and the extra episode are nice additions to an already unmissable game that left a durable mark in the history of 3D shooters. The new weapon is fun to use, the new levels are both challenging and very well designed, the humour is still present and it's duke with more Duke, what's not to like? Now if we could also have the Megaton Edition so we could replay the 3d party expansions and TCs (especially Life's a Beach, which is a crazy piece of work that deserves more respect).
I know there has been some mixed feelings about this version of Duke Nukem 3D when it came out in 2016, but there were some good things in it like the music and levels for the 5th episode were fantastic. Unlike the original DOS version that got removed prior before release due to ownership changes, World Tour has never been brought to GOG. I don't think that it is fair for an iconic video game legend that helped pioneered the first person shooter genre often gets left out in having his legacy preserved for future generations to experience why Duke is an all time great. Duke Nukem 3D will always be a masterpiece of a game with the additional abilities of flying around with a jetpack or swimming underwater to fight enemies that most shooter games afterwards don't really utilized such features at all. Let's not forget that the character got his iconic voice by the legendary Jon St. John where back in 1996, video game characters started to become more alive than ever. If Duke Nukem 3D were to come back on GOG, I not only would want the World Tour version available DRM-Free, but I also want to see the original DOS version brought back as well, and maybe perhaps Megaton Edition could also be brought over too.
Honestly, who would download this iconic shooter from an abandonware site back in the Windows XP era and continue playing and enjoying it year after year? For decades? Definitely not me. But, if anyone did find themselves in that position, it would be great if they could finally step up and buy the game from GOG. It's time to go legit and chew bubble gum. And we're all out of gum.
When I was young, there was a cover disc that came with a copy of Boot Magazine which contained a full registered copy of Duke Nukem 3D. Knowing almost nothing about it at the time, I unzipped it and ran Setup. Jumped in and was blown away. I'd played Doom, Heretic and the like previously, but this was something else. I didn't know how it worked or what to make of it, but little me played the crap out of it anyway. Later on, teenage me got good and MAN this game kicks ass. Playing games like this led me to becoming a huge game collector (over $20k and going) who plays 13 major franchises on four purpose-built rigs. Games like this are incredibly influential to the industry, but even moreso on us the game players.

Freelancer
FreelancerEight hundred years prior to the start of our story, bitter conflict divided all of mankind. A handful of colonists struck out on their own to begin anew - far away from the Earth and its turmoil. Several ships were launched with enough equipment and supplies to give the hundreds onboard a fighting chance - but since the area around far-off Sirius had never been surveyed, no one really knew what to expect. What they found was a new frontier of free-flowing natural resources, unexplored territories, great wonders and lurking dangers. Each ship, representing the clusters of people and their earthly place of origin, settled into different parts of the galaxy pre-selected by their ship-board computer to give them the best chance of survival. Life was hard in the beginning, but over the 800 years the different colonies prospered and expanded their territories, claiming more and more systems for their own. Survival and propagation eventually led to growth and profit as each of the colonies developed specialties and fostered commerce. As the colonies grew and time passed their connections with their roots on Earth dwindled and they lost their memories of the conflicts of the past. Soon their attention was dominated by new, more immediate conflicts. Feelings of lost ancestral connection spurred anachronism in the look of the great cities, and created a somewhat distorted image of each colony's cultural heritage. In the ever-expanding outer edge of the territories, frontier lawlessness prevailed. The Houses: Each shipboard colony that left Earth carried some memory of its origins in its name. The Liberty carried Americans, The Bretonia flew from The United Kingdom and surrounding territory, The Kusari from Asia, and the Rheinland launched with Germanic cargo. As each ship settled and colonies began to expand, they knew little about each other and their advancing development. Finally, little by little, the individual colonies found each other and began to set up trade routes to link their systems for commerce and solidarity. Today, with each colony firmly rooted in its respective corner of the galaxy, the colonies rely heavily on each other for trade and industry but also compete for resources and new territories in the Border Worlds. The colonies mandate member governments in "The New Alliance" within the Sirius sector. To control conflicts, each colony has forged alliances and treaties with others as they have grown. Competition remains fierce, however. Struggles rage for supremacy in business, commerce, resources, power and control. There can be tenuous peace between colonies' political agendas, but the grabs for holdings constantly unsettle the volatile frontier.

Black & White 2
Black & White 2In the game, the player takes the role of a god called from the void (nothingness) to help those who invoked them. However, the player is not an omnipotent style god, but rather a god who rises and falls with his believers and the player must help develop their nature according to their good or evil desires. The player also has a creature, their physical representation in the world, which takes the form of an anthropomorphic ape, lion, wolf, turtle, cow, or tiger. Its physical manifestation can grow to an immense size, and adopt a good or evil persona separate of the player's. They develop their character as the player rewards or punishes their actions. In addition to the god simulation and city-building elements introduced in the original Black & White, Black & White 2 also features elements of real-time strategy gameplay, with the addition of controllable warfare and fighting units.
