Growlanser IV: Wayfarer of the TimeGrowlanser IV: Wayfarer of Time is a mix between a real-time and turn-based strategy RPG that was released on the PlayStation 2 in Japan on December 18, 2003. The title was the fourth entry in the Growlanser series and was the last entry to use 2D sprites before transitioning to 3D with the next installment. An enhanced port for the PlayStation Portable was released in Japan on August 18, 2011 under the title Growlanser IV: Over Reloaded, which featured a new animated opening as well as several new story paths, characters and other gameplay improvements. Atlus USA localized the PSP port as Growlanser: Wayfarer of Time and released it in North America on July 31, 2012.

It shows a completely flat (2D) lemming popping out of a computer's floppy drive, and finding a "3D" button to press, which makes him 3-dimensional. After that, the PC blows up and the (now 3D) lemmings inside it escape. Other movies play after completing each set of 20 levels, but are not connected by a storyline.

Like actual hunting, successfully killing or capturing the monsters requires significant strategy, skill and involved resource management. While initially considered a commercial failure, Monster Hunter would go on to become one of CAPCOM's highest selling franchises.
Despite featuring an offline mode, Monster Hunter was primarily an online game. The official servers were shut down on December 31, 2007 in North America and Europe, and July 1, 2011 in Japan.
