Wolfenstein 3D completed
Das Original Wolfenstein 3D ist in Deutschland Verboten.
Bitte nicht, Das 3 reich Lied im spiel, Ist genug für den Kotz Reiz.
Lieber Wolfenstein Spear of Destiny.
I want that Legendary game on GoG, I very like that game and I want to buy it at GoG someday and play it one more time and one more and more.
Since Bethesda has now joined GOG.com and id Software and 3D Realms were already on board before I don't see a reason why Wolfenstein 3D could not join the catalogue now. I guess it's only a matter of time.
About the German Ban, maybe a modified version could be offered to them instead.
Nothing can stop GOG now ;)
Just looking at this game will tell you, that it belongs in your catalogue!
Back in the old days, this is what we played and it was great.
Seeing it now on 3drealms revamped store it's more likely to get it here outside of Steam.
I want to kill Mecha-Hitler again!
Good game. Put up 6 episodes version.
This game blew me away when it came out. A free roaming 1st person view game just didn't exist then (I know, I know ...midimaze,faceball,hovertank,catacomb)
I saw it at a convention and told all my friends about it in school the next day. I didn't have a computer at the time so I didn't get it for a couple of years. By then, another game using the same engine ,Ride of the Triad, was out and that took all my attention. Nothing beat trading homemade levels on the local bbs, then calling a friend with your modem to play 1 on 1 death matches. Then losing your game when someone else in the house decides to make a phone call.
I probably wouldn't buy it except on a $1 sale as I've bought it many times over the years. However, it's a great game that every young gamer should be exposed to.
(Maybe with Carmack at Oculus, we'll see it ported to that. Nothing like mode 13h (320x200x256) up close.)
I can't believe that GOG does not have Wolfenstein 3D.
Remember what GOG means? ''Good Old Games''.
So come on GOG, make it happen.
This was the first game I ever bought, back in high school, on floppy disks for the Macintosh. First Encounter was shareware, so I bought Second and Third Encounter for some 90 levels of running up to a wall and grunting at it to see if it was a secret door.
Apogee Software has the full version of Wolfenstein 3D available from their site, but the problem is there games are for Windows only, they only have Windows installers at this time, I do not believe DRM/copy protection is the issue here, I use a Mac and I've bought a few games from their site, not knowing at the time their games had Windows installers, once I discovered this I had to use CrossOver Games to install the games, then I had to import the games into Boxer, I realise this may not strictly be legal and that worries me a bit, but the games run just fine after being imported into Boxer. I only bought 2 games from Apogee, both originally DOS games of course, and they both work just fine. I'd love to see Wolfenstein 3D on GOG, but I'm contented to buy the game directly from ID Software or Steam, on the condition that the games have Mac OS installers because using something like CrossOver to run the Windows installer and then importing the games into Boxer really is a pain for me, it can be done, but it's a nuisance. There was a warning on the Apogee Software site saying that Wolfenstein 3D is banned in Germany, I don't know if you can buy other games from the site in Germany or not, but I'm aware of the ban and I believe GOG is based somewhere in Europe, so I can see the issue they would have in selling such a game on their site, it's sad though. If GOG were based in the US for example then they may not have the same issues, I just don't really know, but if I can get a Mac compatible version of games like Doom, Quake and Wolfenstein legally, I'll be happy, I'd prefer to buy the games from GOG, but if I can't I'll get them elsewhere, but GOG will be the site I look at first for DOS games I legally want to buy.
Wait Woldf -#d isn't up here yet? Get it up here and yes the original game not some tarted up crappy so called HD remake. We want our nazi's horribly pixelate thank you.
@Jeffpiatt No. Just no. I don't want a repeat of what Bethesda did to Doom II's secret levels in the Doom 3 BFG Edition. Now that I think about it, Postal 2 is banned in New Zealand, and you can buy the GOG version from there. I believe Carmageddon is also banned in a few places which can still access the game from GOG. Perhaps GOG can just sell the game uncut with your nationality being none of their business as usual, so long as Bethesda doesn't mind.
the x-box and ps3 version got around the Nazi ban buy altering the game art to use the RCTW logo and add the revised health packs from the ios version.
They just can't unban this one in Germany like they did with DOOM before, since it's ban goes much further. Many decors in this game like the noumerous swastikas, the Horst-Wessel-lied as background music etc... are unconstitutional in Germany. So without a major change in German Constiution this one stays banned
If id was to join up with GOG, Wolfenstein's strict ban in Germany could conflict with GOG's goal of making games available everywhere... that is, unless the German government suddenly unbans it 15 years later as they recently did with Doom.
Damn! I want this game but it's banned in Germany for all the swastikas. It's legal to own W3D for personal use but selling it is outlawed. Screw them swastikas, i want to shoot nazis!
I want this so bad my words can't even come close to expressing it
Please note that many id software classics (not only FPS, like Doom, Quake, and Wolfenstein 3D, but also Commander Keen, etc.) are still available via their Web site. Consider, e. g., www.idsoftware.com/games/wolfenstein/wolf3d.
That was my childhood game who I was played on a internet caffee
:)
Wolfenstein 3D is the bread and butter of classic DOS games. Sure, its available on Steam, but if GoG can get ID Software to sell it here it would make the selection more complete. I'd rather buy it from here anyways because I play old games on my Android tablet. It would save me the trouble of extracting the DRM out of the Steam version to run on my device. I heard you can do that.
A great classic this really does belong on GoG.
Classic shooter of all shooters!
I have to play this every year. Shooting nazis is always a relief.
I want this so bad on Gog :) haha Amazing, I voted offcourse :)
