War For the Overworld completed
@Klumpen - I can confirm that both LAN and Direct IP work in the current DRM-Free version. As for everyone waiting on a GOG version, we have some news coming soon ;)
@Noontide13: So you coded the multiplayer specifically for Steamworks. I absolutely hate when devs do that. I guess LAN multiplayer is out of the question then too, eh?
I've heard that the DRM free version on HumbleStore is a crippled one, so I wish this one would at least be cheaper since I really don't care for the Steam key.
Hi guys, Noontide from Brightrock Games here.
Just wanted to say we've not forgotten about GoG and we're well aware that a lot of people would love to see the game on here. While I can't make any promises on whether we'll one day see a release here I can say at the very least we're investigating the possibility of releasing on GoG Galaxy. I'd expect to have an answer for you closer to Patch 1.6 (Patch 1.5 is next).
I can say with certainty that there will be no release of WFTO for GoG in 2016 but at the very least we'll have some news for you one way or the other in 2017.
Never give up hope!
Cheers,
Lee
This is the real dungeon keeper 3, I want it!
I actually voted for this and wish I could take my vote back... I bought it off of Humble, enjoyed it for the first few levels. I hit a game-breaking bug. Also I noticed the game seemed to have horrible memory leaks, which hogged up all of my 8GB or RAM and slowed my system to a crawl. I am using a Linux system, so my system only uses a couple hundred megs of RAM tops when not gaming. Plus the developers seem like assholes:
They won't patch the DRM-free version of the game (which has serious issues) They said that GOG will not accept their product because of the limitations they put in the DRM-free build.
Here's what they say about DRM-free gamers, Mac gamers, and Linux gamers:
"We absolutely learned that lesson and won’t be advertising a DRM-free (or Mac/Linux) build for our future games, and only releasing them if doing so is feasible."
“If you’re on OS X or Linux, then Windows will run on your hardware.”
They stated that DRM-free build is limited to major patches only, however when the MAJOR patch 1.2 was released the DRM-free version was not updated. A few days later, they added this to their website:
"We’re wanting to ensure all immediate bugs are fixed before pushing an update to the DRM-Free version, so it will likely be coming shortly after 1.2.1 or 1.2.2. But rest assured an update is coming, so keep your eyes peeled for more news in the near future."
If you really want the game, I would just say get it off of Steam! I you really don't want DRM on your computer, play Dungeon Keeper 2, it's better in every single way. :)
It's good that GOG works on their Galaxy. That's one of sitations where it could be useful.
They are doing a DRM-free version now, although I would like GOG to help them which ever way they can, as the game uses Steamworks API's to do it's online components, that is where I see GOG could help them if GOG's Galaxy have something similar.
Here is a snippet:
This DRM-Free version will be available to anyone who has kickstarted the project or bought the game via the humble store on our website. Of course as we will be pulling steam features out of the game there will be a few key differences to the DRM-Free version:
Online Multiplayer will not be accessible, LAN Multiplayer still supported (Could probably be done with Galaxy)
Achievements will not be awarded (Can be done with Galaxy)
Cloud Saving is removed (Still up in the air for Galaxy)
DLC Support is currently up in the air, Access to exclusive themes may be limited (Can be done with Galaxy)
Minor Patches will likely be less frequent than the steam version due to difficulty in delivery (Could be done with Galaxy)
It'd be better to wait until Subterranean finish polishing the game.
the game is now officially released. i am looking for a hard copy so i don't have to get it on steam. thats the nice thing about GOG, i don't require internet to play my games. steam almost requires you to log in just to play games
wftogame.com/ if you read the latest update, it is finally going on sale
around April 2nd. finally >.< i cannot wait
Unfortunately, the response I got was that the game relies on Steamworks and thus a GOG release won't be looked into until they are fully finished with the Steam version.
I see in this comment area that one of the developers tried contacting GoG about having the game on here when it gets released. I'm hoping talks did end up continuing.
One of the few classic Strategy series reborn, GOG, bring this on to boost the collection, please! :)
twitter.com/WFTOGame/status/517454660261920768 - "...we have every intention of pursuing all feasible and practical avenues to deliver wfto to our fans."
I am really looking forward to this game, but I'll only buy it, if it comes to GoG.
This would be great for GOG. We need more new games like this!
"We're certainly going to investigate it post-release."

Looks great! It has a good chance of getting on GOG.com, too, because they're selling pre-orders for DRM-free copies of the game on their website.
I love this game! A must have on GOG. You guys rule! www.topbulk.org/
Let's get this one on here!
Very promissing indeed! Other contender is the Impirium. Will see which game will win the title of being Dungeon Keeper 3 :P My bet is War For The Overworld. BTW they released pre-alpha playable demo on their web site.
i made vote 1,111. i hope this game meet my expectations and not a disappointment like that chinese version of DK3
Yeah I got the heads up about what IS DK3 just yesterday and I thought "DK1 & DK2 are sold only on gog.com it would only be fair & logical that WFTO is sold on gog too" :D
This game looks awesome, I pledged $250 to it, but will also grab a GOG copy if possible.
This might be as good as the old Dungeon Keeper games. I just hope they get the feel just right.
I have not been so excited for the past 14 years... This game looks like a true heir to the DK series...
13, 1/2 years i'm waiting for the DK revival ! I want this one !
Dungeon Keeper 3 for the win!
Added my vote as I already did pledge for the Kickstarter and I wanna help those guys as much as possible.
Steam is perfectly fine and GoG does all those games Steam has long forgotten about (before its time). War for the Overworld needs to be here sitting along side Dungeon Keeper. It is going to be a good year for pc gaming.
Added my vote and made the count 666...I like it lol ;D
Upvoted this game.
Oh HELL Yes! Was a massive Dungeon Keeper fan back in the day - and I will be again!
This game MUST be on Gog !!!
Hey folks, WFTO dev here. Thank you to everyone for your support along the way. We are hoping GOG gets back to us soon :) Also we are still accepting pledges through our website if you missed out: https://wftogame.com/
This has got to come to Gog, I backed the kick-starter with a 3 figure sum I so want this to be the start of Shinning new franchise.
I love gog, I got dungeon keeper off it which allowed me to play it and DK2 on my new computer, gog would make a killing by selling war for the overlord on their sight as any gamer knows when a game will be great and successful : D
You can't not have this on GOG. It's just INCONCEIVABLE! :D
GoG this is the exact sort of game you are good for, host it.
Better here than Steam. Please!
Yes Please get this on GOG ... then you can have all my monies *-*
I'm a backer too. Dungeon Keeper + Linux = another Fry take my money meme!
I'm a backer & would love to see this on GoG :)
This looks EVIL! I love it!
approved by Molyneux. so ok, i need this.
This is exactly the kind of thing that the GOG platform is perfect for. We really need to get this to 225k to get the original announcer back. He's committed if we come up with the money.
I was waiting for a Dungeon Keeper 3, what will never happend. So this will still my hunger for a new Dungeon Keeper. I hope so Yes why not.
Absolutely +1. Seeing a DRM-Free version of this gem here on GoG would be the final nail in the coffin (in an evil way). >:-D
I really hope this game gets on GOG, I would rather get it on here then on steam.
So glad these guys reached their goal, this game looks amazing <3
