The Witness completed
Glad to see this one "in progress". Hoping for OS X and Linux releases, too.
It#s in the coming soon tab and this has been marked as "in process". Same for Braid. Guess they could finally find s contract Blow could agree to.
Yeah, any news on this being released here or GOG talking with the developers? I am waiting for it to be released here.
please ! dont want to play such an expensive game in a DRM game, you can do it gog
They got Rayman Raving Rabbids for crying out loud, surely they can get this masterpiece!
Any updates on this matter?
I really enjoyed Talos Principle (and Road to Gehenna) and would really like to see this game on GOG (i want it in my GOG-Library =) )
Please GoG get this, I love exploration puzzle adventure games... was just reading about it again on reddit.
Click the links, it all becomes quite apparent. Instead of what Braid may or may not have said many many years ago (I haven't yet found his original comments), the things he said a month ago should be considered to be most important here.
Knowing how similar contracts work, what he said on January 7th seems entirely understandable to me. The first version of those contracts is essentially just the publisher's (GOG's) wishlist. As a developer, you can either put in time and money and more time and more money to sprinkle that contract with your actual wishes. But that only leads to publishers saying no or sending you yet another slightly edited version of the same contract. And that means you're starting with everything anew.
Braid said no thank you to that. Which is a sad thing, but it did happen. There's no particular fault with GOG, they just sent their standard contract, and there's no particular fault with Braid, who saw no need to consider reworking a contract like that when he could get on TEH STEAM to begin with.
Sure, we could say "get your shit together". To both parties involved.
@Vainmoinen, It seems that based on what I've read that Jonathon Blow's main objections are that GOG wants to control when something goes on sale and how they promote it, which quite frankly I think GOG SHOULD control. The term "unprofessional" really stems from Blow using F-word laden rants, which I also think is justified. So in general, though I voted for this game, if GOG doesn't get it because they want to have certain terms in their contracts, I'm OK with that, and I just won't play it on PC.
I'm going to wait till it is either on sale or on gog. :P
I want the game, but this developer seems like a whiny dick, pardon my language. Similar vibes from to the Fez guy.
Jonathan Blow was asked on Twitter: "Any chance of getting it onto GOG at some point?" and he responded: "Possibly .. we need to work out the legal details and I haven't had time due to just finishing the game."
Uhhhhmmmm... OK, it's neither particularly fair to bring up statements from more than three years ago, nor is it particularly fair to interpret what looks like an attack on GOG's contract negotiation tactics as "an unprofessional public meltdown". Corporate contracts like this are often only just a wishlist (from Steam or GOG or whomever), indeed intended for people to argue with or rather refine. This was what Blow rejected, it seems.
GOG didn't reject Braid, it looks like Johnathan Blow rejected GOG's contract negotiations and had an unprofessional public meltdown about it, and is doing that again with The Witness. This seems to be the norm for indie developers these days, they can't afford to hire a PR person and they have far too much social networking on their hands with no buffer on their emotions. www.reddit.com/r/TheWitness/comments/40elg4/vote_for_the_witness_to_be_put_on_gog/
How is this NOT on GOG!?!
Will not buy on Steam. Would buy immediately on GOG though!
C'mon, GOG. Don't let us be late to the party. I've been looking forward to this game since its announcement.
The Humble Store may be a crappy Steam key reseller, but they DO have the Witness DRM free and GOG does not... :(
Agreed. I prefer to own the games I buy.
Come on guys, why isn't The Witness here yet? I don't want to buy it on bullshit humble store... :-(
Available DRM free now on anoother store... so time to get it here as well.
...and it's getting perfect scores.
Time to lure the developer here :)
Won't happen. GOG probably pissed off the dev by rejecting Braid.
Definitely want it here!
A DRM-Free is scheduled on Humble so there is hope (unless lawyers entered the play-field and produced exclusivity contracts)... Fingers crossed.
So pretty.
Can't believe this game only has 93 votes. It looks amazing! As a spiritual successor to the Myst series, I think it would also find an audience here..
Hoping it finds it's way to Gog as it's currently only listed for PS4 and Steam.
yespleasethankyou
Mee too. ^_____^
Yup. I'd like to see that here.
