The Consuming Shadow
Yahtzee not only giving a shoutout to GoG, but also putting his game on GoG would be neat indeed. Also, Eternal Darkness needs a re-release, FFS.
I like FTL, I like Cthulhu...
GOG, why not both?
Would absolutely buy this
The Consuming Shadow is a great game with a lot of replayability (especially The Insanity Edition with challenge modes and whatnot). I have seen videos of the gameplay, including the videos by Yahtzee himself playing and explaining the mechanics.
I hope to see it on the GOG store, so I can buy it here.
The Consuming Shadow is released, Steam has the Insanity Edition. I played it, this is definitely a game I'd buy again to add it to my GoG library.
Just adding my vote here. NOTHING TO SEE. Plus ducks.
I don't quite understand the problem people have with the graphics honestly, they're not triple-A (far from it) BUT it's functional, works with the atmosphere of the game and generally gets the job done.
The game does a great job of creating that Lovecraftian, sinister atmosphere and can be rather unnerving.
I wish you'd quit using the wishlist to advertise your shitty indie game.
I've played the free beta version and while the graphics are certainly rough, the gameplay is engaging and solid and the atmosphere is suitably unnerving and Lovecraftian.
Seagull with Arms!! xD

@tfishell I know on the site it says it's coming soon to GOG but if people show interest maybe GOG.com will prioritize getting this game a release on it's service. Because in all fairness at least this indie isn't an asset flip or a cynical cash in and hard work actually has been made. (Although sadly it doesn't take much to be a decent title cos we got too much crap)
@dodger: Yeah, I've bought it and played through it a couple of times already. :) Very Lovecraftian atmosphere indeed. <3
@Helge.442,
I've purchased this game already, through the Humble Store. I'd love to see it here on GoG (and other distributors). The atmosphere is rich and the gameplay is actually quite good and a lot of fun. If you enjoy a more macabre adventure with roguelike rules and gameplay, you'll really enjoy The Consuming Shadow. There's quite a bit of replay value as well.
Also, I would like to mention that this is nothing like Eternal Darkness. Any similarities are minute. The Lovecraftian theme and the sanity mechanic are the only major similarities, and I can name a dozen other games that use Lovecraftian themes and / or a sanity meter, so Screampunk obviously hasn't played this game yet.
I highly recommend the game though, if you're into roguelikes, if you like HP Lovecraft, or if you enjoy a game with a dark atmosphere with a motif heavily coloured by myths and legends of the occult and the ancient ones.
Get past the bland graphics and you'll find an engaging and atmospheric horror survival Rogue-lite. I love the investigation mechanics and the insanity effects. Hope it can get on to to GOG and Steam
I have seen better looking Flash games. Much better looking Flash games. I have a feeling that it will be another good to great game hobbled by crap UI. I want it anyway.
"Coming soon to GoG and itch.io!" :) - www.fullyramblomatic.com/conshadow/
The story is inspired by Eternal Darkness sure, but to call it "blatantly copied" is a gross exaggeration.
I had a look at Eternal Darkness, and the only similarity I could find was there being three gods and some colors. Calling that a "blatant copy" is straight up hallucination.
WTF is this shit? Back to year 2000 in flash making?
I honestly had high hopes for this game, because I've always had a high amount of respect for Yahtzee. But while I cannot deny it's a good game, and looks like it'd be a great experience, I was very disappointed to see a professional writer blatantly copy another great work.
It's literally just a 2D copy of Eternal Darkness. You could easily play this first, then Eternal Darkness, and swear the latter was a sequel or remake.
Same basic story elements, same colour-themed trinity of Lovecraftian gods called Ancients that have their own dominion over a human aspect, same method of discovering more about enemies, same spellcrafting system, about the only things I can say are original (and very nicely done) are the "Kill Myself" sanity effect and the driving hub world.
All in all: Sub-par graphics, minimalist approach, a story blatantly copied from Eternal Darkness, but nontheless engaging gameplay that is worth checking out depending on what you're looking for in an indie title.
You'd probably get more enjoyment from the T"X days a Y" series, Hatfall, or even Yahtzee's books which are excellent.
If you enjoy survival horror and Lovecraftian stories, give it a go and you'll probably enjoy it, but I can't personally recommend it.
I would love to purchase this game here. I hope this gets put on here. :-)
It's definitely worth an entry on GOG. Yahtzee's games are always wonderfully minimalist- creating just the right amount of tension between demands in-game with the fewest number of elements possible, serving as a simultaneous lesson in game design, and simply a well-made and well-written game.
Also wish i could edit this post i hate when i can't so many typos :(
