Reach for the Stars
I wish I hadn't lost my copy of it. I'm not sure if I'd be able to get it to run as well as people at GOG seem to with DOSBOX but I did enjoy this game and miss it.
Yes, SSG made some great games, their original version of RftS may have been one of the first 4X games
Have the 2000 version I think - love it! But, it is bugy.
Cannot find the Slitherine/Matrix remake.
Echoing all the below - definitely needs either a WIn 10+ port, or even a remake.
Just for the record: This is the 2000 release of RFTS. There is also the original DOS version from 1983 (which has its own Wishlist Entry here on GOG. You can still play the 1983 version online at Internet Archive (I think it is).
I own both versions (& still play 1983v via DosBox on my Win10 machine), but the 2000v doesn't play well with Win10, and I miss playing this - so come on GOG, let's try to get this one up & running for us - it's an instabuy from me when you do.
Was discontinued on Slitherine site, didn't have a chance to buy it online, but played it off the disc - and love it immensely. Not only it has simplicity, uniqueness and depth combined, it has one of the best in-game editors to make anything you want, loved to tinker with it and create scenarios with new races. It's awesome, and I would gladly instabuy it on GOG. Please convince Slitherine to re-release it!
I still play when I can stand the noise of bad fans on my old XP. It doesn't convert well on any WIN10. I'd buy again from GOG. Make it so.
I used to play this religiously. loved it. would sit with my buddies and play this for hours.
This was the very first 4X game ever commercially published.. come on GOG, you HAVE to do this one!
PLEASE :)
This one has my vote, I've still got the big old jewel box lying around here :)
It actually contains a cd that gives you a 10 hour internet trial, *as on TV* :D
My favorite 4x space game ever. The late game was unusually streamlined thanks to its resource system. Planets could not be terraformed into sameness as in many other 4x games so when you found a truly nice one it was a genuine discovery thrill.
This is one of the best 4X games I ever played
One of the best 4X games ever! Please GOG, make it happen!
