asmcint For anyone who has a similar experience to SciFiCat, let me lay down what happened. Basically Panzer Dragoon on PC did not take advantage of any of the major players in the 3D accelerator market at the time. It ran purely in software for most people at 640x480, and looked damn good considering that.
However it COULD have hardware acceleration, you just needed the right card. The Diamond Edge 3D, made with NVIDIA's NV1 chipset. This 3D accelerator was touted as rendering objects the same way the SEGA Saturn itself did(using quads instead of triangles) which ostensibly cut down on rendering overhead due to the reduction in overall polygon count required to make a smooth model. However, naturally, this meant that this card did not support any common render APIs, nor did any of the games designed for it. Furthermore, Diamond Edge copies of the game were not sold in retail, but instead bundled with the card.
Overall it's not a bad port at all for the time, even running in software. It runs at a higher resolution than the Saturn version, with true transparency effects instead of checkerboarding, and a more stable framerate. So it looks and runs better than console, which is basically all most people ask of a PC port in the first place.

jindofox One of many SEGA games released for Windows in the mid-1990s that hasn't been seen elsewhere. These include arcade and Saturn ports.
SciFiCat I would like this game in here but only to see if the GOG Tech Team can do something to make this game run better that its original release. Let me explain: I happen to own a retail disc version of the PC version and it has to be one of the most lackluster console-to-PC ports I've seen. For such an old game it is surprising that it functions on my Windows 7 machine but other than that, the game port was made in such a way that it refuses to acknowledge the hardware it is running on. For starters: the game is locked to a 640x480 resolution and there is no in-game option to change this nor is there any file inside its folder that can be manually modded to fix this. The game seems to run entirely on software mode as it completely oblivious to any GPU advanced feature it could take advantage off: there is no AA, no texture filtering of any kind either, and it runs at a 24 FPS limit, in essence the game functions as it were running on an original Saturn. To top it off this game, which could take a huge advantage from using mouse aiming, has no mouse support, the game has to be controlled via keyboard or with a Xbox360 controller (will only get recognition of face buttons and left analog stick as a digital input, all other buttons are ignored)
So if this game gets released here, I'll buy it in a heart beat if it is fixed so it runs at widescreen HD resolution, with hardware acceleration and full analog mouse support.
