loth89ombo I neglected to take the opportunity to play this game, in spite of having gotten tons of enjoyment out of the original Shogun:TW. I would be so glad to see Medieval here instead of just on Steam.

redsoxu571 Good Lord, do we need this on GOG. It's a tremendously fun game even to this day with terrific atmosphere...but only for those few who can get it running. I managed to sort of get it to run on a work computer, but it will crash, and it's hopeless on my current computer. Please make it happen!!!

ThorChild I guess SEGA currently 'own' this? Anyway having spent the weekend getting this to work (+VI expansion) on my Ryzen Windows 7 system (not easy!) this sure feels like a game that could do with a GOG fixing up?

JCDenton14 This is one of the best games ever made in my opinion. It doesn't run properly on Windows 10 so I hope they can add it to GOG and make it run perfectly.

Geraldine I'd love to see this game on GOG as today I attempted to install and run it on my modern machine with no success. It has to be said tho that getting it to run will be no easy task. Windows 2000 has proven to be the latest OS that can run it unmodified. It also does not like too much RAM and multicore CPUs can also cause difficulties. I did just about mange to run it on my previous Windows XP based machine but it would still crash now and again. AMD processors tended to run it better than Intel ones. I had a Quad Core Duo and even though the game would run the units simply wouldn't obey orders issued. Basically then this game would be a real challenge for GOG. I think they could pull it off as they have tons of experience now getting old games to run. I will try installing the first Shogun game next......
GeneralLo This is one of my favourite games of all time, loved the music, loved the game play, the artwork on the info was amazingly good, all looked hand drawn. it's a very different game from the big change with Rome: TW and Medieval II: TW which are games I still love. I want this game on GOG because it is unplayable on a modern OS. Steam have a copy up but I have no faith in their ability to make the old games work properly. GOG has proven that it is willing to restore old games properly and I'd love to see that happen for this dusty gem. :)

cdeford I had this running on Windows 7 at one point but now it doesn't run at all. One of the best games ever, especially with the XL/Tiberias mod. I hope GOG adds it. Meanwhile I'll try going the suggested VM route. Thanks for the suggestion.
BalancedInteger Guys, I don't know if GOG has this game yet, but you just need to run a virtual machine (VMWare is best) on your newer PC to play original M:TW1. Set up a VM. Set aside 1-2 gb MAX ram, and about 10-15 gb hard drive space for game + os + virtual memory for the virtual machine to run with. Then load an iso of WinXP (or any compatible OS) into the VM's virtual cd-rom. Install it. Then install M:TW1 (Gold Ed. works, too). DONE!

DeficientGamer For those struggling to run the original version they own. The problem appears that modern computers have too much ram. Use msconfig to reduce the useable ram of you computer to 1GB and it might work.
Would love if GOG provided a version that didn't need a work around!!!

hamsterjockey GOG I love what you guys do! I recently got X-wing vs Tie Fighter and it has brought back so much enjoyment and nostalgia. Medieval Total War is a classic and I would love to pay money to play it on a modern pc. Please add this game and Viking Invasion.

amuse Had no trouble running it on Win 7 64-bit at all...no patches required, just ran straight out of the box! But Win 8 - forget it. I am honestly surprised it's not on GOG already becoz it should be!

Llaithwyrd medieval total war, they never make it compatible with ny of the os nowdys.. in fact sega has not updated them in the slightest since they got it, they know it dosn't work on the versions of windows available now but they keep bundleging it off with other total wars games anyway (I have 3-4 different copies now, none of which work, same with shogun total war)
erdosain Please GoG, you're our only hope. Get SEGA to release Medieval here. They sell it only through their site (which i'm not using).
turin1988 By far the best in the series in my opinion, which makes it such a shame how it's been discarded and forgotten about. If Medieval II and Shogun 2's titles didn't hint at there being predecessors, most gamers wouldn't even know that there were TW games before Rome.

Aniketos This is by far one of the best and most thematic Total War games. It has longs since disappeared from many gaming sites for some reason when it was one of the best strategy games ever made. I would love to see this and Shogun be added to the GOG library.

Tancredo My favorite TW, with Vikings. I have them on CD and created and ISO. From time to time I come back to this game. Even the original Shogun is for digital distribution. Incredible that MTW + Vikings are not.
Carth Please please please. I loved the Risk-style map from this game. It was so much more fun than all of the new ones. I still have the original disc but it hasn't aged well and has compatibility problems. My biggest gripe is that the resolution changes when you esc to the menu -- a real pain if you are saving a lot. I would really love to play this again. I haven't found a game that fills the same spot for me since. None of the Total War sequels were as good since they used the new map system.
Deltatash I love this game :) the campaign map is much better than the new medieval 2 campaign map, its simple, easy to navigate and MAKES SENSE! its much easier to manage your regions taxes and building and find other factions to make alliances etc. Please GOG make this work on WIndows 7 with modern day GPU's trying to play it with all these compatibility issues and random crashes is soul shattering :( they really did mess up medieval 2 with the new campaign style map and way of managing things if you ask me, much prefer this original :)
