Killing Time completed
Like some other users, I bought this game before it was delisted and would like to see it join GOG's catalog again, preferably with a remaster that fixes the major bugs I had playing it, including one where an enemy that is supposed to hit for five to ten HP takes you from 95% to 5% with one hit. This bug robbed me of so much enjoyment I sadly quit the game before beating it, but a remaster that fixes this and other bugs some people have encountered would be an insta-buy for me.
I'm glad I could buy it, and so I vote here so that you make it available again for pthers, seeing as (sadly) it got delisted...
Please vote this up, not many games from the Panasonic 3DO made it to PC and Mac. 3DO version was a little slow in frame rate but the home computer ports smoothed that out. Also looks like most of the major issues have been identified at least for GOG to address. ;)
Thanks! But why not mark this as completed?!
Fine, fine, I'm the one who wrote this game. I'll pull up the code archives and get things settled so I can release it again. :)
I actually beat this game back in the day. Manticus Island was HUGE. The whole storyline was rather sad, and the in-game cut scenes are very necessary to play the game without internet clues. I still remember the intro cut scene on approach to Manticus Island "That's odd - my watch stopped". And so the game begins. --- Update - It appears a company called "zoom-platform" has re-released Killing Time for new PC's. I'm not sure about them - their webpage looks OK, but my Webroot program says the site may contain "malicious links or payloads". Use caution.
The correct link is now: www.zoom-platform.com/#store-killing-time . Wish it wasn't an exclusive, it really belongs here!
Apparently the re-release on Zoom.com is part of an exclusivity deal. Shame it had to be a service no one has heard of (I only just learned this game got a re-release an hour ago).
At least it's DRM-free...
Okay, I don't think it's gonna happen. Check out the last paragraph near the references. It's been re-released recently. The game works on Win7 64-bit with all the cinematics intact.

Somehow GOG messed up my instructions.... hope ya´ll can read it, otherwise I´ll make a txt file and post the dload here.
Hello,
I found a simple way to run the game on newer OS with all Videos, Music & Shit :)
Took me all day, that gamme is a real bitch when it comes to XP / Vista / 7!
Step 1:
Copy the contents of the disk to a folder on your harddisk (e.g. C:\KTCD)
Step 2:
Download this archive and unpack the "Setup32.exe" to the folder where the Killing Times files are on your hard drive [url:Is3Engine.zip]
Step 3:
Install the game by running the "Setup32.exe", click on "Yes" when the error message pops up. Choose Custom install and check "Program Files", "Music" & "Video". Then install.
Step 4:
Download DXWND and unpack the archive to the folder where you installed "Killing Time". [url:v2_03_29_build.rar]
Step 5:
Inside the "Killing Time" game folder, double click on "dxwnd.exe".
Then Download this File: [url:Killing-Time.dxw]
Step 6:
Click on "File"->"Import" and choose the "Killing Time.dxw" file you just downloaded. In the white Box in the "DxWnd" Application it should say "Killing Time".
Step 7:
Right-click the entry and choose "Modify". Under "Path" simply enter the path where the killing time exe is. e.g. "C:\Games\KT\KillTime.exe" or whatever. Then click ok at the bottom of the window.
Step 8:
Double click on "Killing Time" to start the game. You will notice that it runs in a 640x480 Window. But don`t worry - just resize it with pulling the frame with your mouse!
Step 9:
Enjoy! :)
Just got this game, managed to find an original pc cd version, but again as I have discovered, the FMVs make the game crash. This game looks so good and now i've discovered it I just want to play it even more. Wish it would come on GOG.
One of my favorite games of the time! I Had many playthroughs both on 3do and pc versions. Unfortunate the pc version's music had some noise, though you could find it in the installation folder on WAV format and all the movies also on AVI! I still have both the originals!
I used to love this game. Very atmospheric and spooky with great music. Please make it happen GOG!
Never got the chance to play this game, but always wanted to. Seems to be fading from memory, as reviews are pretty scarce. I think it's the perfect time for GOG to bring it back for a whole new generation of gamers!
please bring this game back was so much fun
Not a bad idea, but who do you suggest should make it?
I just noticed on my old comment I'd accidentally written "imposed," but obviously I meant "impressed."
A remake with the original pc version as an extra would be fantastic.
I want this game too!!
This game was phenomenal. I played its original release on the Panasonic 3DO and have never played the PC version. I wonder why WIN95 Emulation in WIN7 won't allow the PC version of the game to operate. I'm gonna snatch this up from amazon and whatever findings I have I'll post soon. cheers!
Yeah, I ordered this online and was extremely saddened to find the FMVs crashed the game. If GOG could work their magic, I would be much obliged.
There is no DOS version. I own the retail version of this and it's Windows 95 only. The game can be played in Windows XP/7 but you have to remove the cutscenes from the game or else it will crash. That would be fine if the cutscenes were not built INTO the levels. Corrupt colours are also a problem.
If this game was DOS it would be much easier to get running. Me and a friend have been wanting to replay this for some time.
Wanted to add that though this had a really advanced 2.5D engine, it did not use the BUILD engine by Ken Silverman. I agree the graphics, atmosphere, and gameplay were superb, even on the DOS version. The screenshots on that mobygames page don't do it justice, this page is a little better: www.gamershell.com/pc/killing_time/screenshots.html
Yeah great atmospheric for the time
I enjoyed the demo, and was particularly imposed by the ambient music and sounds; very good atmospheric for the time!
One of the first 3D games I played, I played the demo on an old Mac.
Really fun build-engine FPS, with FMV in-game dialogues, interesting story, spooky atmosphere and insanely twisted hub levels. Make it happen GOG!!!
One of the best FPS games ever made. In-game video is amazing. Does not work in Windows XP or higher.
