Another group of fans works on open-ig and was able to achieve the permission of Digital Reality to reuse the original artwork to create an authentic remake.
The remake works fine on modern systems.
AstralWanderer I found the 2-disc version worked fine in DOSBox - be sure to copy the contents of all the folders on both CDs (Anim, Atvezeto, etc) to the Imperium Galacitca folder on your hard disk to avoid the need to access the CDs in future (DOSBox can also mount CD images, but copying the folders is far easier).

Always had problems with lock up's and Crashes at the time.
No internet for updates etc...

gmccabe01 Actually have this game on cd's but can't get it to work even with dos box as it crashes when I reach rank of captain and have to change discs.

Justicar333 This was my first real space 4x game, and I have some grand memories of it. I loved the rp element, combined with the over arching grand theme of some dark meanace looming beyond the horizon. It's been done a few times now, but back then. It was something i'd never seen before. Would snap this one up again in a heartbeat.

ronkster44 I have this game already and can play it on Dosbox, but I cannot find patch 1.3 for it anywhere! If GOG.com had a version of this game I would buy it in a heart beat!

DDayZero I liked Imperium Galactica better then it's squeal it was more story driven game.that made you feel like you where in charge. It's shame it sits here on the bottom of the list to tell you the truth. This had all the hallmarks to be a great selling game even it's sequel and sadly nobody talks about this game. I say it about time you guys rise up and find what a real game is like with tons of customization of ships and sim like colony building and to top it off bit of RPG (My option Imperium Galactica 2 has more RPG elements but still present in the first one too. ) what is not too love about this game.
jan0riha I am quite surprised how few votes this game received so far. It is one of the best games I have ever played.
robomaniac i like that game a lot, after playing master of orion 2, i was surprised by features of the Imperium Galactica. IG not so deep, but there is a lot of fun and action... most likeable feature was day/night cycle on the planet :)
