Why has nobody asked for Half-Life 2 (not the episodes) yet? Am I really the first to want this?

It's funny because Half-Life 2, Half-Life: Source, and ALL the games running on the Half-Life 2 engine are already DRM-free. It really shouldn't be too hard to just offer them as stand alone installs through GoG. www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/The_big_list_of_DRM-free_games_on_Steam#Valve

Yes please! Years ago HL2 was the reason I upgraded my hardware. I had a non-Steam OEM version that had bad lighting and was very buggy but I loved it anyways. Now I own HL2 on Steam but I want it without it being imprisoned by Steam or otherwise needing an EMU to run properly. This seems perfectly reasonable since I paid for the game, and do not need the features Steam provides.

As a glimpse of hope: I just found a DRM free version of the full 2004 version of HL2 on the bonus disk of a Hungarian GameStar. So HL2 was already spread at some point without needing Steam.
