I am worried about the game needing 20 GBs of storage and 4 GBs of RAM for the RECOMMENDED settings for PC users, but if I can have this game forever without DRMs, I'm taking it. I've heard that this is one of the best games of the franchise, but I never had the chance to play it. I would like my first experience to be here.
Vainamoinen There are some rumors of a remake. Which would be the only reason to even buy a PS5, because as of yet, there are no games whatsoever that would tickle my fancy. But I would so love to play the original on GOG. Wouldn't say no to a release of the remake in three years or so also, but ... first things first.
Neodoris On Steam, FFIX and FFXIITZA are completely DRM-free, so why not put them on GOG?
In fact, only FFXV has Denuvo now, all others only have the light Steam-DRM.
shawne @twiny: Five years ago the same argument could've been said about Steam, or any kind of PC port at all - yet nearly the entire series has made the jump. A bit of optimism isn't completely beyond the pale.
twiny Guys, don't waste your votes on Final Fantasy games, how many SquareSoft/Square Enix games do you see on GOG? The company is clearly not interested in having their games DRM-free out there.
This whislist could use some serious "reality check", so many votes given to things that are beyond the control of GOG.

I find that ridiculous. Selling it in more places means more money in their pockets. There is NO REASON to refuse such a request except idiocy.
Vainamoinen No excuse for SQE, certainly. But it still won't ever happen. There's no Final Fantasy anything on GOG... and SQE is the loyal slave of absurd DRM in any and all available forms.
MegisED Now that it is out on Steam, there is no excuse not to release it on GOG. Anyone that may have wanted to pirate it has played the PlayStation version on an emulator long ago.

Blake81 To me, this was the very definitive FINAL Fantasy game; the series have been dead to me since then (with the exception of the Tactics series; those are masterpieces on their own). So, if this game was ported to PC, I'd sell my kidneys to buy it if I had to. FF9 is the Final Fantasy of the PSX, no matter how much square keeps glorifying FF7.
arite81 Tears of childish joy would stream down my face upon ever seeing this game remastered for PC this was the most Fantasty-like Final Fantasy (6 needs an HD remake as well) 7 and 8 may have got me started but 9 kept me coming back for more.
Dracomut1990 It would be great to see this game on GOG if only because it needs more love. Screw FF7, FF9 is the best Playstation Final Fantasy!
ansionnach Ways this could work:
1a. You guys go off and beg Square Enix to port the game to PC
1b. When a PC port exists, then pester GOG.
2. If GOG ever strike a deal with Sony to distribute PSX stuff DRM-free (including BIOS ROMs), then perhaps they could release an emulated version with Square Enix's permission. This is extremely unlikely to ever happen.
DanyKing It's really cool after all, the best FF IMO. Would pay beyond $200 for a proper PC "remake".
Morthoseth The game works fine on an emulator so there is really no need for it here since it was never made for PC in the first place.

nmalinoski @Darvond: Yeah, Square is pretty messed up; they released an HD version of the 3D remake of Final Fantasy 3 on the Ouya.

Nbrevu A few years ago I got from Taringa a bundle of the PS game with an emulator, which launched the game and managed the seetings for you, very GOG-like. IIRC, FFIX required fine tuning of the emulator settings, so this was quite handy. However, it was released as a PC game, trying to hide the fact that it was based on an emulator (and it destroyed your ePSXe settings without warning, which is the only bad thing I have to say about the bundle). I'd like GOG to do that kind of things, and in fact, releasing Good Old System's Games would be welcomed.

dnovraD While I doubt that a company as messed up in the head these days as Square Enix would consider such a request, Final Fantasy IX was very much so a crowning gem of the series.
