Title: Amazing Crafting System for both gears and spells.
Evil Islands is one of the few games that I like playing again after a few years because of the freedom it gives me while creating my own play style. You play as Zak who wakes up in ruins and doesn’t remember who he is. With his metal (bronze) dagger and unusual clothes the people of the island declares him as the chosen one. So now it is your duty to protect them from dangers. However, not everything is as it seems.
Instead of writing it like pros and cons, I will explain some major details about the game so you can decide on your own.
* Fully Voiced. Some people found Zak’s voice irritating but I found it cute.
* The game is very easy to learn.
* You can only access your inventory while you are on map view. That means you can’t make changes while adventuring since you cant access your inventory.
* There is no leveling system. You gain health and stamina automatically as you gain experience. Then you distribute these experience points freely on abilities and skills in the map menu.
* You can attack your enemy’s legs, arms, body or head. Hitting head is harder but does 3x damage. If you manage to cripple enemy’s arm then it will attack slower. If you hit it’s leg then it cant run away.
* Backstabs have never been that powerful. In the beginning, the game forces you to be stealthy and fight in melee. Most monsters are more powerful than you, especially when they gang up on you in numbers so you watch, predict their movements and backstab one of them without provoking others. This is especially powerful when you combine backstab with headshot which does 15x damage in the beginning. Normal backstab does 3x damage but you start the game with backstab ability which makes this 5x. You can further increase this ability to 10X which than backstab headshot would do 30X damage. But be warned, some monsters are immune to backstab.
* Crafting system is easy yet powerful. It lets you create any armor, weapon or spell you want. Of course if you have the ingredients and skill.
* Crafting weapons and armor is simple. All you need to do is place to blueprint and then materials in the shop’s crafting section. It will give you the information of the final object. You can even add a spell into the object while creating it. For this, the spell must have an insert rune and both the energy and complexity must be lower than the final object. This way you can create weapons that weaken enemy or an armor that heals you repeatedly. You can even create wands that does not need a spell created with insert rune.
* Crafting Spells is a little more complex. You need keystones just like you needed blueprints for items. A single keystone is enough to create a spell, you wont need additional materials. But you can enhance the spell by adding runes to it. You can increase its range, duration, effect and target type. Also, you need to be able to cast the spell in order to craft it where highest numbers in your party is taken into consideration.
Gordth I remember when I first played the game, I didn't understand it one bit. After a few years, I was able to really get into it. Truly a masterpiece amongst CRPGs. And maybe having it on GOG would indeed spark up the Multiplayer, especially wiyh GOG Galaxy.

ginx2666 This bloody game... I've sunk countless hours in it, and now that I have different PC, it bugged on me completely. To illustrate, on i5-2500k, 8GB DDR3, GF 970, and Windows 8.1, I get 25 FPS in fullscreen, and 12(!)FPS in windowed mode, no matter whether I launch it as-is, or in compatibility mode. It drives me nuts.

Engerek01 Evil Islands is one of the best games I have finished and I think it has the best crafting system till this day. You can make your armour cast you healing spells if you are hurt!!
I bought this game 10 years ago but somehow I lost the original CD. I would certainly buy this game DRM Free just to add it to my RPG collection.

Frogfoot Would be very nice to revisit this one. Bought the original back in 2000, but was to inexperienced player at the time.:) Last time I tried to run it on the win 7 PC, it worked, but crashed every minute or so.:/ Definitely would pay once again for a working build to finally beat it.
veryblackraven GOG.com already have a number of games by Nival Interactive and I think this game would be a great addition to the store's catalog. The game is really fun and engaging, and it should be quite easy to ensure its stability since it still runs pretty good on modern systems.
Grummy A huge fan of this game here. I actually have a working copy but I'd be happy to pay a few £s to get it on gog instead. The voice acting in English (British version, not sure if American was the same) was actually terrible, but a good, entertaining, terrible. Its inventory management and crafting system were among the best I've ever seen in a game. Love it to pieces and I'd love for other people to get the chance to play this classic.
liartar It was a trully great game. Beautiful story, prominent characters, great voice acting (at least in Russian), avesome 3D grafics, very original experience system.
It suffered a little bit from the balancing issues, for example, if you always played as a team, experience wound get shared between characters, but then you could only take your main character to the new land. So you were practically helpless. It was much easier to play alone and suffer a little in the beginning.
Nevertheless, I would LOVE to see the game here. Very original RPG.

deathmachinept This was a really great and very imersive after completing it, I had the feeling I was playing for years and had travel in many continents. I remember looking back to the first level of the game thinking that was a long journey.
They say it has over 100hours and I really want this since I didn't explore more than 50% of the entire game a lot of content and it's challenging.
