Bandonk I really wish I could get the Disgaea games on PC without steam..
Wintercastle I have only played the second game, and seen the first game being played, but both are amazing experiences. They play very much as a board game, where you make turn-based battle with your antagonists, separated in boards/levels with story-scenes inbetween. They have several layers of interesting decision making, and have stories that mixes a hilarious campy general story with perhaps surprisingly serious parts, that I somehow never find ridiculous - silly funny,yes, but not ridiculous - nor jarring in the sometimes sudden contrast when the story switches tempo and style.
Pacing and difficulty is very much in control of the player. You can rush to tackle challenges at low level and with poor equipment, or "level-grind" to your hearts content. This can make the games either pure relaxation or a "brain-revving", nail-biting experience as you chose.
The amount of options you have on how to handle the challenges makes for a huge amount of replayability. Even though the first games are getting up there in age, the music and the stylized artstyle is beautiful in it's simplicity, and I can only talk about the first two games. I'm sure the (currently) following 4 games have improved in technical quality compared to the first two games.
I hope these games come to GOG, hopefully with some fun avatars to use as profile pictures, and separate soundtracks to enjoy while doing something else.

andreasaspenberg2 i would certainly buy them. only 1, 2 and 5 is available as of right now and as such, we have to wait for them to released the others for steam first. i want nothing to do with steam however when they harass me.
