Serpent1989 If you want one of the best, if not even the best, strategy games based in the middle ages, besides Stronghold 1, you choose this one, because Age Of Empires II gives you a world wide scale of so many cultures, units, campaigns, missions and what not. Even the tutorial alone, where you have to lead the Celts against the Britains, is highly addictive. Just, for the love of God, do not forget the addon "The Conquerors", because without it I won't buy it. But if you can get your hands on the game and its also fascinating addon and if you then make it perfectly running on modern systems and without any HD additions from Microsoft, then I will buy it immediately on the release day (and I guess thousands of other people too).
MonsieurVerdoux Don't even need a multiplayer feature, that could be Steam only. But my father soon needs a new PC and it would be nice to have a GOG version as a replacement for his original CDs. (I think he would be confused using Steam)

cptmold I just wanted to say, since I see I'm not the only one who hated getting lied to about an "HD edition." Seriously, that thing was awful.
But here's the thing... I found the actual jewel case with Conquerors for $10, new and unopened, on Amazon. There's color issues, but three ways to fix it:
1) Put in the SW Galactic Battlegrounds goglauncher,
2) Right-click the desktop and choose Screen Resolution, and leave that window open in the background (yes, that somehow works, not sure why)
3) Go to AoK Heaven and download DirectDrawFix
4) End explorer.exe and use Run to bring it back once you're done.
Any of those four solutions fix it, and the game's still $10 on Amazon. LAN works just fine, and unlike "HD Edition," the netcode doesn't suck.

Shadowstalker16 I want Age of Kings and The Conqurors on GOG. Hopefully as a package for less than $11. The HD is expensive and it isn't compatible with the thousands of mods out there for the original game like Forgotten Empires FTP Edition, LOTR mod, 3X Tech mod etc.
prhewitt If AoE II HD has killed off LAN play then I don't want it. LAN play was what made the game great for us back in the day! Would love to buy it from GOG but Steam - no so much
