I'm on the Zeus level where you have to conquer 3 cities . I've managed two and keep trying the main aggressor, Opthalmus (or something like that) but I can't conquer him.

I've got Amazons to help but I'm waiting and waiting for Ares to be open to prayers and he's just not playing ball. Is this just a sit it out and wait or is their a way to get him to like me more and be open to prayers? Or am I supposed to do this without him? In which case, are my 3 horsemen companies, an ally, and the amazons ever going to be enough?

The other thing I was thinking is maybe to invade the Opthwhatsit city whilst his troops are on their way to invade me... how does the game deal with that?

All help greatly appreciated.

What size Army do you have. And ships-- if they can be used.

I have 3 ships but they can't be used. The city is called Orchomenos.
I only have the 3 horsemen troops, 160 soldiers, the Artemis Troops and Artemis Squadron.
Plus an ally.


If I could get Ares onside I'd have two lots of his troops as well.
On the world map I seem to have as many shields as my enemy if that's relevant.

Ares shows up once and once only -- at least that is how I found it.
When the city attacks you, try sending your troops to where they will hit Orchomenos about the same time that the Orchomenos troops attack yours. You can buy them off.

Also, you can set up for quick turn around and hit them several times before Orchomenos can repair their armies.

Ah. When I first built the sanctuary I called Ares - I assumed he'd turn up a lot.

Thanks for the advice on when to attack. I'll give it a try.

Also, in some scenarios, you CANNOT conquer a city until certain events lower the city's shields. Not having played this one, I don't know if this is the case with this scenario. If it is, at some point you'll get a message like "The Orchomenos military has weakened." When that happens, it's hammer time.
