justanoldgamer: I bought this game this summer and just installed it. I printed the Quick Start section of the manual and started the game and immediately found out that that the Quick Start part is useless. First it says it to choose new game and then Classic, well there is no Classic options. I chose the middle one that seems to be the default. Next thing that went wrong is that I do not have a "breach" option when trying to explore other house.
Is any part of the manual useful or did the game evolved in something completely different since it was published and they didn't bother updating the manual?
Breaching, assaulting and investigation are all done by the same command. First move your pieces, it should come up with an "investigate" command. Then click on the highlighted word (investigate). At this point you should get a screen showing all the stuff at the house and what you want to bring, so you can choose weapons/tools/etc. At the top left you should see "Investigate" highlighted. What's hard to see is that right next to that is "Breach", and next to that is "Assault" - they're right at the top of the screen and almost impossible to make out in recent versions. Just click "Breach" (or do what I do and click in the top middle until it comes up) and you're good to go.
If you're talking about the online manual at their site, it's mostly the same but things have changed a bit since then, including new features not mentioned. I guess the new breach/investigate/assault interface takes up more space now (since it's more detailed), but they still could have made it easier to spot the wording...
