So, how can I make my survivors not hate one another? Occasionally I get lucky and they generally like one another (maybe after sacrificing one) at the beginning, and I've won a couple scenarios that way. But every single other game, they hate one another so badly I might just as well keep quitting/restarting until I get green party. Rumors don't seem to do much for me. Either it makes DIFFERENT people now hate each other instead, or it has no positive value to speak of.

Sometimes you're lucky and can find food enough to hold a feast.
The effects of "found a clue!" making everyone get along better seem to have weakened since I first played too.

The rumors are tricky to use but can be very effective. The easiest way to use them is when there is one person most of the other dislike. I had one game where the party was made up of four women and one man and all the ladies had the 'distrusts men' trait. Using rumors that he had personally been in charge of a nation wide something or other for women's rights helped quite a bit. I have yet to have anyone call me out when creating a rumor, so go big when it comes to making up a story that will benefit you the most.
This aspect of the game can be made much easier by creating a custom team who all share the same socioeconomic background. The more homogeneous the group, the easier it gets..
