No native Mac and Linux ports exist for this game on Mac and Linux. Devs do not have engine source code access apparently so it's out of their hands. The versions available thru Steam and Humble, for both Mac and Linux, are windows versions running thru Wine.

So I'd assume Linux and Mac versions will come to GOG if/when GOG staff get permission for them (may already have) and they run stable under Wine (may take few more patches). I'd vager they're stuck in GOG QA at the moment.
Xenonauts on Mac / Linux!
Xenonauts now has Mac / Linux builds available, but they have additional requirements to run on top of the standard Windows builds due to using WINE.

LINUX:
Once the game is downloaded, you will need to download and install the appropriate version of WINE for your Linux distro. Once WINE is downloaded the game should run normally from inside Steam.

MAC:
The Mac version of the game has to be installed manually. Once it has finished downloading, please go to the download directory (right-click game in Steam >> click "Local Files" tab >> click "View Local Files"). The Xenonauts.zip file contains the game - just extract it and play it, or drag it into Applications to install it.

Both versions of the game are slightly less stable than Windows due to unexpected interactions between the code, WINE and the different operating systems, but we've fixed the majority of the issues and are continuing to patch them where necessary. However, if you have a dual boot machine and it's possible to play on Windows I'd recommend doing that where possible.

Some people are very unhappy that the ports use WINE rather than being native ports. Whilst we understand people would prefer a native port, in this case it is not possible as we do not have access to the engine source code - it's WINE or nothing. Not a good situation, but there's nothing we can do about it.

Please be aware that we have made it clear the ports use WINE at every stage of development and the game is not even advertised as supporting Mac / Linux on Steam (except briefly at the end of the trailer). We're not attempting to mislead anyone about our ports being native, we're simply catering to the people who are happy playing a WINE-wrapped game and think they should be given the option to play the game if they want to.

Thank you for the detailed info. So if I understand you correctly I should be able to buy Xenonauts from GOG and run it through Wine the same as Humble store ?

Well, the quote is copypaste from topic in steam forum I linked. As far as I understand it, the difference is (until GOG makes their own Linux and Mac setups) that you'll have to unpack the GOG windows installer using innoextract (or similar) or install it using wine, then set it up yourself so hopefully you have prior WINE experience. Other difference is that due to GOG not (yet) supporting Mac and Linux on this game, you are not eligible to GOG 30 days money back quarantee or GOG support (legally speaking, they may still help you but they are not obliged to do so as you are using unsupported platform). So you may want to contact suport and ask if they're already working on making Mac and Linux versions available (do point out that such versions already exist on Steam and Humble if you do).
Desura is mis guiding by mentioning the multi OS and Steam key when on Steam it's just the Win version. I'm ok with a wine ported game as soon as it's in charge of the dev. Otherwise if Gog does it and ensure the money back if the wine doesn't work, then Gog is fine too.

I didn't new there was the Mac on Desura but I admit Desura isn't yet in my game eshops selection and it's not this game that will change it.
Has anyone reported success getting the GoG version to work under Wine? I'm very interested in this game.

use wine 1.7.xx for installing (then you do not need to do additional things like "winetricks gdiplus" ), then change wine version to 1.2.3 to avoid some graphical/text glitches...
Hmm easy install with 1.6.2 (stable). But no real luck getting past the intro screen yet. Music comes on, splash screen straddles two monitors and the mouse doesn't let me go below "Exit Game".

Turning off one monitor, I also couldn't select "new game". I'll try a few more things.
Okay, I got it to work by doing the following:

1) Disable the second monitor

2) go to a virtual terminal that doesn't have any windows on it

2a) if launching from the command line in something like XTerm, minimize XTerm before you Launch the main game from the launcher UI

3) Do not alt-tab -- this seems to disable the mouse ability to click on the rollovers on the splash page.

After that, everything worked fine. I had no problem with fonts in 1.6.2. I only played up to part of a ground mission, but I didn't see any problems.

That is spreading of false information, it could be right for Linux, but for Mac the engine the game is based on is also supporting Mac. The sad truth is the dev just gave up respect engagements from Kickstarter probably because it realized it was only for Mac and not Linux and he estimated the cost was too high.

I don't care that much even if I'd like play the game, because I didn't pledged the game. But this is just false information.
Native Linux version of Xenonauts is available DRM-free right now in the Humble Indie Bundle 15!
Yes, let's hope GOG gets the native Linux version as well.
