Now, first of all I don't know if the game saves at all in geoscape in iron man mode. It doesn't save at end of month, end of air combat, end of installation build, end of hire scientist... In any case, I think it absolutely should. Relying on me to go to missions I don't particularly want to go to to keep me from losing progress is not good.
