If you didn't back Duke's Buccaneers, can you still get one? I see them flying around and their existence taunts me...
Did you try to persuade any of the pilots to get out of his ship?

I've tried bailing them a couple times, but eventually they're left with just a few percent of hull and still don't bail.

Any tips?

Oh, I'm not really good at that. I'm more this passenger type of guy hanging around on the map...

Hull and shield must be below a certain value. Then there is a certain probability that the pilot will get out. Try to comm the pilot and ask him to surrender while you keep the shields down. Well...

... any cockpit pirates around here with better tips? :)

No worries: everyone plays their own way.

But, yeah, I could do with some pointers. As of right now, my "bail to explode" ratio is skewed overwhelmingly in favor of the latter :P
rostfreyh already explained the principle. I believe you need to get it below 75% hull before they will consider bailing. It can take a while if the crew has high morale, like 10 minutes or so. They will leave just a few at a time (scan the ship so you can see how many crew are left). You only need to cause shield damage to make them think about leaving, so you don't have to risk destroying the ship. They can leave even if you don't comm the pilot and ask them to surrender (not sure how much difference it makes though). Don't let them damage your ship, as that makes them less likely to bail.

I didn't realize bailing took so long now... Cheers! I'll give it a shot. Just need to set up a slightly faster frigate for boarding: my Falx is too slow to catch up once the Prometheus switches into high gear :)
Took an uprated Nemesis and more than a few tries, but I finally snagged one :) Thank you both for the advice.

In X3, I used to have no problem bailing ships, but found capping big fish frustrating. In X4, (for me, at least) it's the other way around. Go figure.
