Themken: Sorry too tired now but with that information someone smarter than me is sure to be able to help you. A pity you did not post outside this thread.
Thanks. I fixed it by finding a copy of WMSPDMOD.DLL on my install media which was the missing file according to that application. Then I put the 32bit version in windows/system32, and the 64bit version into /windows/syswow64
Start up TC and it works now.

Thanks again.
Hey there!

I am an Arch Linux user and yesterday I bought and installed the game. In order to be able to run the game, I followed the post marked as solution from this topic:
https://www.gog.com/forum/x_series/x3_terran_war_linux_shared_library_issues

The game works fine, but unfortunately, I do not have any voices in the game (Terran Conflict and Albion Prelude), although the music is working fine.

So I guess the issue is still there.

The solution to this problem is to copy addon/mov/00044.pck from the Windows version of the game into my Linux game folder?

I'm using Fedora, BTW. :)

Well, they did fix things… kinda.
The problem is, GOG didn't update any other installers aside of English, so if you are using German installer then I recommend to switch to English one.
And, AFAIK, not all translations are complete so (in my case, at least) it is better to stick with English speech, optionally switching to localized text (you can mix and match these as the English installer actually contains all available translations but the process is extremely convoluted and involves creating/changing symbolic links).

P.S.
- How do you know someone is using Arch?
- (S)he tells you! :D"
What's wrong with you people? :-O
Thanks for your reply, Alm888!

Well, actually I thought I have downloaded the English installer but somehow I got the German translation. Could it be that the installer automatically uses the systems default language?

And are savegames compatible with other languages of the game?

I will try to reinstall the game to the English version and I will report back here ;)

Haha, well, GOG officially only supports Ubuntu based systems so it proved useful to tell that I am using a different distro :P

Edit: Yep, I have already downloaded the English installer with version 2.4.0.7. I just edited the start.sh script in the main game folder and commented the part with the automatical language setting out so that it uses the English language instead of my systems language.
Now all voices are working correctly! Thank you very much for your hint, Alm888! :)

Thanks @xCr0w and @Alm888 for noting the non-english installer issues.

I've updated the topic post accordingly.

For the sake of further documentation, are the audio index (pck) and/or audio data (dat) files missing (or incorrectly symlinked) for the German language installation?

Did anyone try with the ...0.7 version? The 00x44 files are gone but we have 00x49 now, but I can't seem to get the German voices to work, no matter what I try. Setting LANG=de_DE gives text, but no voice.

This is on Linux btw.

Yup, I downloaded the German version (it was .0.5 if I remember right), and it didn't have German audio either. I just re-checked with the second installation which I believe is the leftover German one (main/modded installation is English), and LANG=de_DE doesn't give me voices.

Then you must talk to support. I believe the Linux version is not even save file compatible with the Windows version, which shows that not all is as it should be with the Linux version.

Yes, it seems all non-english audio data has been copied from the Windows version, which uses Microsoft codecs that are unusable on the Linux game. Congratulations GOG ! This applies to both 2.4.0.5 and 2.4.0.7, but I advise that you install the latter.

That being said, you can convert the concerned .dat files to MPEG audio/video, or OGG, using VLC for example. It has been done succesfully by someone earlier in this thread.

I'm french but I probably won't use the french language since the robotic voice is ridiculous, one can hear breathing between sentences. So much for a robotic voice ! I checked, all other translations (including the german one) do it correctly, but not the french one of course, nooo...
