You're right again! :-)

I thought the dat file for AP had extra content, but I tried a symbolic link to the corresponding TC file plus the copied pck file from the Windows installer and it worked. The game played with all English voices.

So, the missing file is just 104 KB and GOG already has it. I wonder why this issue hasn't been fixed until now.
There has been no post here, even about a silent update, since November 2015.

Yeah, I originally thought that 00144.dat would be different too, but it ends up since AP used most of TC's audio content they just added 00244.dat to cover the new audio and then just indexed across both files.

Essentially, yes, the only file that's completely missing from the current Mac/Linux packages is AP's 00044.pck audio index. Since we're capable of symlinking the *.dat files from TC it would be a perfectly fine short-term solution to release a copy of the audio index and placement instructions for those of us that don't mind hacking in the fix.

The solution is pretty simple, though, and considering the potential number of affected users, I was hoping the packages would get an update before they hit another big sale—like the X-Pack in the current summer sale ;)
Wow, GOG really should be ashamed of itself for not doing anything about this for over half a year... especially if it's not even difficult to fix.

Not even an unofficial workaround by them...
Wow, this seems pretty ridiculous. Maybe gather an e-lynch mob together and rattle some chains, the squeaky wheel always gets the oil. :)

Yeah, this is pretty bad for a game that's been out for this long. I'm still working on my first play through TC, and was planning on AP next. Be nice if GOG took care of this, as they have to be fully aware of it now. While it won't affect me on Win OS, I certainly sympathize with the other OS users...come on GOG

Lame. Extremely lame.
Easily fixed, but really GOG? What's the deal with leaving such an obvious packaging issue unresolved so long?

BS like this really makes me wonder why I buy stuff from these guys... certain other distribution channels I might mention at least provide the complete game in the download.

Support request filed, let's make some noise. ;)

On the topic of GOG laziness, how about not having to get the bonus packs from Egosoft, and not needing to install wine to run them? GNU/Linux is actually a supported OS, right?

Looks like there was a new package release on July 7th that lists some Mac audio updates, but I haven't found the time to download and test.

Can anyone on Linux and/or Mac verify if the missing X3AP voice audio has been resolved, and of equal importance if the English audio index file (game/addon/mov/00044.pck) has returned (at more than zero bytes)?

It sure would like to see this one resolved after all these months.

I'd check it on Linux, but sadly the Linux installer was not updated at all, so I think the fix is actually Mac only.

Well then, even without Mac testing, I guess we can still call this a problem ;)

Thanks for the heads up.
if somebody needs the audio files in english I got the retail version of the game.

I finally got time to download the Windows installers. Had to do it from university, not going to waste nearly 10GB of data from my cap.

I copied 00044.pck and 00144.dat from the extracted installers, but I'm still missing the station audio when I dock in AP.

Anyone else on Linux who got things to work?

Sure, both TC & AP working fine here AFAICT. Is it voice in general that's not working, or just station announcements?

MyCookie: I copied 00044.pck and 00144.dat
Works for me (grabbed from windoze install), should be in <game root>/game/addon/mov/
MD5s of working files:
190b5b7164b0d9e6f2a747d6672ca671 00044.pck
ea45d26fb5b2c4e3c81a170ba2ab4ca9 00144.dat

Note that you need the audio samples (.dat) from a Linux TC install, and the index (.pck) from a Windows AP install.
Windows and Linux builds use different compression formats for the audio, but the samples are (AFAIK) the same in TC & AP.

I haven't investigated the files Bloodpatcher posted (downloading now), but they may well be the easier option.

Ah! I see, I was grabbing both from the Windows installer. I can say that it works in the first sector now, will need to play more to see other sectors.

EDIT: Oh, and thanks for the MD5s, they are now the same on my end too.

Wait, is this still an issue? Really?
