Behold!

So, WinterSnowfall was generous and gifted a copy of X3: Terran War Pack. Thanks Boss! This being my first X game, I spent a weekend learning the controls, playing a couple of hours, and exploding many, many times.

I grabbed a handful of mods and scripts, and I am ready to get going. I'm playing Terran Conflict Plots for Albion Prelude + Immersive Environments + X3 Rebalance Mod w/ NoWar + Phanon Corp w/ NoSafe + some other scripts. I know XRM makes things harder, but it also adds plenty, and I don't mind the slower, more cautious pace I have to play at.

Terran Defender start, TCAP+IEX+XRM, here goes nothing.

Good luck :). Looking forward to your "day 1" journal entry.

Thanks, I have spent a bit of time being a tourist and the first plot. Here's a screenshot I love too much.

Good Luck otm. Indeed, the game can be very beautiful. There were some sectors that I was almost mesmerized flying around in, and entranced by the background music. I won't list any of them, but when you discover them, you'll know. There's nothing wrong at all with taking your time in the game, especially when first starting...just look at how long it's taking mankind just getting to really know our own solar system ;-) Spread your wings and fly brave Terran

Weirdly enough, since I've started out in the X universe with X2: The Threat, I don't feel comfortable at all with the Terran start-up scenarios :). The soft glow of Argon Prime is a lot more friendly to me than the visage of Earth, as strange as that might seem.

Just thought to mention that, since I see most people go straight for the Terran Defender start :).

I agree with you WS...but perhaps different reasons. That is some seriously large space to start off in. I do give folks a lot of credit for starting there, and sticking with it. I'm more of a Commonwealth type myself.....love drinking that Space Fuel, and shooting the shit with the local crazies while my ship is being refitted ;-)
I guess I just assumed that Terran Conflict would be Terran-Centric. Oh well, I've always got my next start to fall in love all over again.

I'm past this point in play time, but getting to trader level 2 was exciting (it took HOURS to get to level 1, so jumping to 2 in an hour and a half was surprising and thrilling) and here's a screenshot.

I maxed out my cargo hold, shields, and engines before running further with the plot. Still playing a "gun-and-run" style since I am hopelessly out gunned right now almost every time. That said, I really enjoy this stage of the game and am certain I will miss it down the line. Every mosquito missile, every max price difference trade, every reward is a celebration.

More later, I've got a plot to wrap up and some salvage to barter away.

More? Did the Xenons do you in in real life as well?

Hi! No I am fine, thank you for the concern. I had a massive hardware failure that took the save with it. That took the wind out of my sails for this as I had a good chunk of gameplay that is not reflected here. I then had an issue getting the mods set up again, and got distracted by real life and other things. I actually did resolve the mods issue recently and tooled around for a bit in the game. I am waiting for this particular project at work to finish so I will have during the week time and then I will restart. It should be about a month.

Good to hear that you will return :-)

Remember that starting in Terran space means slower and bigger.

Okay, so 1 month turned into more. I have been doing lighter gaming since it has been more time at work, but I am finally at the end of the madness for now, and the rest of December should be normal hours.

Today I have reinstalled all the mods. I am doing a short test-game just to make sure nothing looks broken, and then it will be time to start for real.

I am going to play this weekend, and I will work on the writeup one evening this week.

Onward and upward.
