Socratatus: Exploring, decided to take a look in a ship that had just landed. As I stepped in the door came down and I was trapped!
The ship took off, I couldn`t move.

Then I decided, well, this is interesting, let`s see what happens. So I simply watched.

The pilot jumped into another system, wandered about in space for a bit, followed a couple of other ships, got into combat, then she jumped another system and landed at a new Base. Hooray, my chance to escape!

Unfortunately I still couldn`t get out, so I had to restart... :( But it was quite interesting while it lasted.

So beware stepping into a stranger`s ship!

p.s. this with X4, by the way.

p.p.s actually I did get out on a Reload! Now to figure out where that lady took me! :) Hope I can get back to my ship!

Socratatus: It was a weird when the door shut on me and took off with me still in there. I thought , "Whoa!" as I saw us head out into deep space leaving my own ship behind! It also shows what the game can do without crashing because it wasn`t really meant to - like kidnapping the Player!

I could even talk to the lady, but I couldn`t ask her to return me to my Station.

It took about 20 minutes of her doing her stuff before teh ship finally landed at a station. So I had to be very patient, but I really wanted to see if the AI really would go to a destination.

I even remember the AI pilot`s name: Rena Keppel!

Anyway, I was able to get back to my ship by the transit system. A memorable part of the game I won`t forget quickly.

Socratatus: Well I`ve been avoiding getting on ships since then, but now I have a bit more experience I`ve learned that...

You can get on an NPC ship but you are stuck until he decides to land which might be in 5 minutes or an hour - or you can jump out in the spacesuit, but that never really works. I tested this. First time I jumped out I was too far from the Station and suffocated trying to get back. 2nd time time even after jumping out right at the bay in my suit, it wouldn`t let me land; it just bounced me around forever until I suffocated!

Next test was I stayed until he landed at an Unknown station where I got off. At first I thought I was stuck again, because when I tried calling my friendly ship to come pick me up he wouldn`t because the Station was `unknown`. However, I finally figured out to get him to `Dock at my location` and he travelled here so I was able to get back.

There may be more ways like teleport, but I`ve not researched it as I`m not that interested in it. But as long as you have a ship with a RELIEF PILOT/ Captain you should be ok.

If you have NO relief pilot on a ship you`re pretty much screwed unless you luckily land at a Wharf and have enough cash to buy a new ship which is almost impossible early game.

p.s. I just realised, I could`ve jumped out in the spacesuit then called one of my ships over to rescue me while in space. So many options in this game. Love it!

Just imagine all the crazy ways sneaking into someone's ship going to an unknown or restricted location open for missions or roleplay scenarios.

"Sneak into Bright Gevoni ship, wait her to dock at the Red Baron Pirate station, hack and stole fighter Silver Arrow."

Yeh, I'm dreaming aloud, and probably not make sense, but just an example.

Themken: Not bad ideas at all. Did you post this on the Egosoft forum as well? I doubt Egosoft ever reads anything here. (Apologies if I was wrong.)

Socratatus: Yea, that would be a good idea. maybe make it so you have to pay the pilot you`re sneaking in with or have some kind of ability to `hide`.
You should mention it on the forum like Themken says, it would add a lot more interesting mission scenarios to the game.

ChillAsIce: This happened to me once. Long story short, I got kidnapped, then I did a space walk and I was fortunately close to the dock my ship was at. I flew to my ship and was still in space suit mode in the docking area. I ended up trying to dock with my ship and I was successful. I didn't need to fit into the place where I come out of when going into space suit mode, I just needed to get close to it. This was with my starting ship.
