Hi. Is the Worms United game sold on gog (https://secure.gog.com/gamecard/worms_united) inclusive of both the original Worms 1 and its expansion pack Worms Reinforcements?
What are the differences between the original games and the one that is sold on gog?
Thanks.

Hello. Does anyone know the answers to my questions?
I'm trying to decide whether to buy the Worms United that is sold on gog.

Yes, Worms United is simply that: Worms 1 + Worms Reinforcements (as stated on the game's gamecard). There's no difference from the 'original' version as it is the exact same game.

I actually owned the original Worms United, which came with the game CD and the expansion floppy disk. I sure don't miss either. So convenient having just that one installer from GOG. ;)

The big difference between vanilla worms and Reinforcements/United is that Reinforcements/united includes a single player "campaign" as well as the league options.
Plus reinforcements adding in custom levels
So, how do we play the reinforcements version? I can't seem to find the data for it anywhere, and there are no launch options either.

Reinforcements is integrated into the game. The only difference from the CD/floppy release is that the bottom left logo is altered to use the original game's name.

I had reinforcements when it was originally released. I can't find any of the extra content. No new weapons, no different gravestones, it just seems to be the standard worms content.

Edit: Actually, I think I'm misremembering and confusing some of the stuff from reinforcements with additions from Worms 2. Thanks, terrible memory!

Hi!

I bought Worms United because I wanted to re-experience the Worms: Reinforcements experience (mostly for custom levels creation). But I'm under the strong impression that this version does not contain Reinforcement. I searched on the web to be sure I was not crazy but no: "The pack adds a Single Player Campaign, the ability to create your own custom levels [...]" and I don't see any way to start a single player campaign (and even worse for me) to create my own levels.

Unlike the screenshots on GOG, when I check the "Worms" entry on Steam, I can see some of the graphical elements that were coming with the custom levels feature.

I don't know if the version sold on GOG is just the bare "Worms 1" or if the original "Worms United" release was missing those features. It would be really weird though since United is supposed to be "a combination of the original Worms and Worms Reinforcements".

Any input or help?

EDIT: I tried Worms on Steam (and got a refund) and beside the fact that their DosBox configuration is a complete crap (buggy menus, flickering video, stretched screen) it seems to be the same core game as on GOG. So I think their game screenshots are misleading advertising.

Soo...... is there any legal way to enjoy Worms Reinforcement content ?

EDIT 2 : after even more searches I came to the conclusion that Team 17's "Worms United" is a version of Worms 1 with SOME additions from Reinforcements, but not all of them.

For instance they've included:
- Worm Select with Tab key at the beginning of each turn
- Booby-trapped crates that explode on pickup
- Stockpiling option (weapons will carry over to the next round)
- Selectable gravestones

But NOT:
- Challenge Mode with 25 single-player missions on preset landscapes
- Ability to import custom landscapes and sound banks

So, same question again... is there any way to enjoy the original Reinforcement experience?...

I finally found what I wanted. It was just a case of RTFM (read the f*ing manual).
The problem was that the manual was hidden inside game files: in game folder /DOCS/CUSTOM.TXT.

It explains how to create and load custom levels. I'm happy!
So United is definitively really the merge of Worms 1 and Reinforcements!
