Come one GOG. Get us Wolfenstein 2009 for this Christmas. It will be the best present ever.
I rather enjoyed this game, and story wise I find it more appealing that Wolfenstein TNO which is a bit to grimdark and depressing to my tastes. I much rather prefer the Indiana Jones like atmosphere of Wolf 2009.

Of course it has its flaws and console limitations. I really don't like the regenerative health system (to a degree, I don't mind that the player recovers some health if seriously injured) and would much rather have the traditional health items and armor items.
I also wish levels were much bigger, some places like the airfield and the castle reserve themselves so much for this.
The hub maps sadly became rather tiresome after a while.

But in general I had a lot of fun with this game and I love the whole Nazi superscience meets the paranormal theme.

Agreed. I liked it and am a big fan of the Doom 3 Engine, but you're right - the levels could have done with being bigger. I also dislike regenerative health; I feel it takes the skill away from the game.
Glad to see there are other people here who like the game. In general it does not have a good reputation, 'okay' at best by most gamers and magazines/websites but overshadowed by its successor TNO which I don't like for a few reasons. (graphically wise and some of the changed to make it more like RtCW it is of course an improvement on Wolf 2009)

Personally I had hoped for another game set during the real period of WW2 or perhaps a sequel in which Blakowicz on orders of Intelligence Services continues to track down and take out Nazi remnants that are now trying to rebuild the Third Reich, having set up hidden bases in South America and other places such as Antarctica.
The canceled Indiana Jones and the Iron Phoenix really spoke to me and I wish that that game had been made and released as planned.

It's been a while since I played Wolfenstein 2009 but I remember it as a good game - the overall atmosphere and hubs were cool (although cramped), and to me this game is a bit like a cross between RtCW and TNO (the hubs were more serious in tone, but the overall feel definitely was over-the-top).

There are two mods on Moddb which may enhance the game, this one particularly:

I only discovered it after my playthrough, but it looks worth a try!
Bumping this thread just to let GOG know that us fans are still interested in getting a DRM free version of this great single player campaign from 2009. Hope we are not far away from getting this game in here.
Here's the highest wishlist entry: https://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/wolfenstein_2009

I'm sure GOG would love to have it, it's legal issues holding back a release here.
I remember this one. I honestly wouldn't hate it staying lost. But that's just me.
It's already been said, but I don't think Bethesda gives a damn about it ever since the MachineGames reboot was a... success, at least up to a point. It's a lot like the Human Head release of Prey in that respect, even if the Arkane iteration didn't make a bigger splash than it.

yes please i want this game to be added to gog please gog add this game
I also would love to have the single player campaign of Return to Castle Wolfenstein! Just for people who dont know; the standalone multiplayer part of the planned but never released mission pack "enemy territory" is free to download (remove whitespace):

https: //www.splashdamage.com/games/wolfenstein-enemy-territory/

It still works great without any DRM on any LAN Party and you still can find players online here and then.
Bethesda has decided that this game needs to be punished (probably for being better than the debacle that is TNC). They have all sorts of various claims about why it will never be available. Everything from "We think it sucks, so screw anybody who actually likes this game and wants to purchase it" to "Activision has the rights to it." The latter has been disputed by Activision who says "Bethesda owns the rights to distributing the game." Activision's response jives with the fact that another id game Raven developed and Activision published seemingly has no problem being on GOG or Steam after the Bethesda acquisition, Quake 4.

It's possible that one day, Bethesda will finally get over themselves and allow us to purchase Wolfenstein 09 again, but God knows when that day will ever come. It's a shame, because it's actually a great game.

Oh and if anyone from Bethesda ever reads this. Just sell the game without the Multiplayer component, if that's the problem. The multiplayer component was a separate .exe and by and large, the assets folder (around 523 MB) can be removed without affecting the single player. Just bill it as a Single Player game only, if this is the problem.
