So I liked the single player campaign well enough, but for me, I had great memories in multiplayer here.

I used to play all night in online servers with a friend of mine, is there anyway to add a custom server list? Or anyway in general to be able to connect to an online server with people still playing?
You mean Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory? I think most of the servers are still and there are still few people playing it

I think he/she refers to the original RtCW multiplayer. I don't know if there are still active servers and I don't know if the gog version even includes the multiplayer executable, although I've got it installed on my desktop pc, which is unplugged atm.

Enemy Territory is the multiplayer part of the canceled RtCW expansion.

Edit: Okay. I've checked. The gog version does include the multiplayer executable, but it only adds a link to the single player executable to the start menu. You are right, the default master server doesn't work. There is a manual on the steam forums that seems promosing. But you need a unique cd key, which gog doesn't provide (unless I'm mistaken).

i have fond memories of the multiplayer as well. I bought the game during the sale just to see if it worked or not - single player be damned (though I will check it out at some point).

The multiplayer launches but as the other person said there seem to be no servers available. There is however an option to make your own - whether that works or not is anyone's guess.

I have a physical copy of RTCW Collector's Edition purchased when the game first came out, which comes in a metal tin. When I first bought the game, my buddy would come over and play online. The funny part (well... somewhat anyways) was that the legitimate key that came with it was *already activated online*. People made keygen's for that game and used them, which ended up screwing people who bought it honestly, like myself. My buddy had to get a hold of that keygen and printed a list of alternates just to play it, as the legitimate key was no good to us.

The takeaway? See if you can get your hands on that keygen for it if you know you bought a copy of the game. Most of the people online are using one anyways, so if GOG gave actual keys with the game, there's a very high likeliehood they wouldn't work.

Alternatively, unless you need the vanilla experience, as Terpor said, you're probably better off just playing Enemy Territory which still has active player rosters and servers (AFAIK) :

Strange, I've never had any problems with the key that I received when I bought the game the first time.

I've played both games online. I think I spent more time playing Enemy Territory. It's a great game, but there are some maps from the original game that are a lot of fun. The original was playable with a lower number of people, as well.

It could be due to a number of factors : Maybe the keys for Europe worked differently or weren't pirated/reverse-engineered as often, maybe it dealt with different servers, maybe the servers didn't check for duplicate keys, maybe the European keys weren't as easily reverse-engineered for a keygen, or maybe it was purely a matter of luck. I can't really say for sure, only make educated speculations.

I just recall being fairly pissed that I had spent $65 (or rather my girlfriend of the time did as a gift for me) and an obvious pirate had cut off my means of playing my own game online.
