No matter what i do there is no option to attack, I read the manual and watched gameplay videos of the game and nothing I tried has worked . I click on the fight icon(which just brings up my inventory screen), I mouse over the enemies and nothing, I click right on them and all I get is a eye icon and if I left click then I start moving. what am I doing wrong?

Have you tried Ctrl (or Modifier Key in options)+Left Click on ally or enemy to take the selected (Fight or Magic) action? In options, there are several Safeguard modes. Switching to Deathmatch makes Left Clicking (without Ctrl / Strg) always active, if you don't want the protections. However, you can also hit allies with Area spells (enemies can also hit themselves with the same). Also, make sure another movement key/toggle or Right Click aren't stuck.

tried that, had to set the game to software render and it works fine after that. can attack normally
