Hello everyone, I was looking for a game like m&m 6-8 and I was told to try this game but the problem comes when I try to play after installing it.
I install the game, then double click the launcher and nothing happens, I found a fix on gog page but when i try to make it run it says the game isnt installed.
I'm using windows 10 x64.

I'm having the same problem.Does anyone know how to fix this?
When I first started trying to play the game I was having the exact same issue. No matter what I have tried, including the recommended fixes, I could not get the game to even start. Eventually though, on a whim, I downloaded and tried running the game through the GOG Galaxy client and it worked! For whatever reason though it only works through the GOG Galaxy client. I still can't get it to run manually no matter what I try. Clearly I'm not the only one who has had issues running this game. This is really strange and I really hope GOG will look into this issue.
One time I had this issue, it was sound card (needed a replacement) related.

The other, and this is a stretch, was related to an outdated PhysX driver. In this instance, it was the game Two Worlds which auto-installed the driver. This caused Wizardry 8 to not even try to launch. CF Injection stated that the game wasn't installed. This was after the game had been installed and running fine for months previously. I removed the outdated PhysX driver and installed some legacy drivers to get both games working.
I would try using Windows 7 compatibility mode. I don't need it, but worth a try.

Run 3DSetup.exe and make sure it is set up properly.

FYI, I have never had trouble with this game going back to Windows 98....

Current set up.

Windows 10 64 bit
Nvidia 1070 w/ latest drivers
SB Recon3D w/ latest drivers
24 gig RAM
Was on Postcount Wizardry forum and found another one, specific for Windows 7 x64:

Check windows update and see if you have update KB3086255 installed. If you do, you will need to remove it and never again install it. It breaks older games like Wiz 8.
Hi all. After "upgrading" from Windows 7 to Windows 10, my existing copy of this game no longer works. I've previously had issues with the copy protection update KB3086255, and after removing this the game worked again in Windows 7. But I'm assuming that this update is baked too deeply into Windows 10 and nothing I do - 3DSetup, compatability modes, no-CD cracks - works.

So looks like I'm stuck buying an entirely digital copy, but I've seen here that some people seem to have no problem with this in Windows 10, some need to tweak, and for some it won't work at all. Windows 10 isn't explicitly listed as a supported OS on the GOG version, so I suspect that those who already have trouble with any of the above will have the same issue with the digital version?
I had same problem i was able to trace it back to a windows system update that affects older games requiring a disc to play that use a specific security program. Once i uninstalled the update Wizardry 8 checked the disc and the game ran

I set KBXXXXX whatever it was to be hidden then some time later i had the same problem. I was able to find the new update, KB3086255, based off the same fix ms15-097. Again i uninstalled this new version and the game read the disc and ran fine.

I'm running Windows 7 64 bit
