So i saw Wizardry 8 Ad in my mail and was all HELL IT'S ABOUT TIME!

Bought it at once, read some about technicals while downloading and installing.

Installation went smoothly, then i clicked Launch game at the end and finally saw a menu. Closed the game, went to edit the file to change renderer and resolution. Trying to run game again. It doesn't start. Ok, maybe i've screwed smth up? Tried running config utility and tried all kind of options. IT AIN'T GONNA RUN!

K, reinstall. After reinstall, Launch game and.... it works! GREAT! Played some, took a break. Now trying to run it again... it won't run.

So in the essence: trying to run game by Launch game after installation works; trying to launch in any other way quits game before ANYTHING appears. Tried changing configs, tried changing run as admin, tried changing to WIN XP compatible....

System: WIN 7 HP 64BIT has all updates
iCore 2500K
16GB RAM
GF 560Ti (heard game has problems with ATI/AMD chips, but i never had any in this system...)
FullHD LG TV through HDMI (i'm on high DPI Windows setting, tried disabling DPI scaling, as this many times solved problems for me, but not this time...)

No OC.

This sounds like an issue that goes beyond setting various compatibility settings, I would recommend that you write to our Support department. Please make sure to include your DxDiag file as that will give us your exact hardware configuration. Thanks :D.
Hey, you got further than I did! Mine doesn't even launch at all. I get the 'busy' Windows cursor for a second, and then nothing. Hoping you get some responses in here I can test out myself.

Did you try doing Launch game?

Aside from that method only thing i get is Windows Busy Cursor. :-)

I'm going to contact support.
Before you do that, try using XP SP3 compatibility mode.

This is how I had to set up my disc version - only thing that worked (Win7).
I can run it just fine from a command prompt, but not from a shortcut.

Same problem here. Installer will launch the game, but that's it.

I confirm it "solves" problem for me.

It seems to be some kind of UAC/permissions problem.

While launching Wiz8 invokes permission prompt properly it makes game quite prematurly, before showing anything.

If i launch it through command line (command line itself had to be launched with administration privileges) it runs WIz8.exe properly.
I too cant run wiz 8 it prompts me to allow the game to run then nothing Iam really annoyed and quite frustrated. couse i really would like to play this game

Contact GOG support, they've solved it.

In my case they sent registry file that removed one registry key. That made Wiz8 start without issues.

This is my exact issue. Ive tried all forms of troubleshooting and nothing is allowing the game to run. Im pretty ticked off that i just paid $10 for the game and now im going to have to wait till they update it for Win 7. I have no idea how to contact GOG directly and i almost feel that it shoudlnt be necessary for me to do so.
I'm running it on Win 7 without any trouble, although I did uncheck the "Run as Administrator" option after installing it.

The only other things I can think of that might be relevant are that I'm running the desktop in "classic" mode and have disabled power management (high performance at all times). I doubt that the former matters, but power management has been known to cause issues with many older games.
