I was have problems with cutscenes or films / intros etc.. i always got black screen with sound in background from cutscene. I found dgVooDoo - somthing similar to nGlide. After install dgVooDoo cutscenes are showing.
Tip:
- in the Wizardry 8 folder delete all glide.dll - after this, if you run 3D Setup you got all resolutions in menu with 16 and 32 options. For me i discover OpenGL is the best and fastest - in this mode you dont need dgVooDoo or nGlide, but if you use dgVD in OpenGL cutscenes are showing.
dgVooDoo

it is good if cutscenes are not showing
settings and tips:
- after install dgVD (dgVooDoo) copy from MS or 3Dfx folder (under dgVooDoo folder) all *.dll files and paste into W8 directory.
- if you want use glide, copy files from 3Dfx, it you want Direct3D, copy files from MS folder
- run 3D Setup (from W8 folder) and choose glide (if you use glide, you have not much options for screen resolutions),direct3D, or OpenGL (options are afected only in to cutscenes)
- run dgVD > click to ADD > select W8 folder
- there is set up for good play cutscenes under OpenGL(in some option cutscenes are slow, it is working for me)
in the General Tab:
- API: Direct3D 11
- Adapter to use: i have intel HD3000 (i have notebook)
- Fullscreen Output: Default
- set Apply
in the Direct X tab:
- Disable and pass.. Direct X - unchecked
- Videocard: dgVooDoo 3D accelerated
- VRAM: 65536 kB
- Resolution: Unforced
- Antialiasing: Off
- Behavior: All options checked
- Miscellaneous: All unchecked (for first start it is good check dgVooDoo watermark, to see if dgVD is working)
- set Apply
I dont have set up for Glide. When i try it, W8 was very slow and i got low unstable FPS and rendering was not correct (i dont have FOG in this mode). Direct X is better, but still unstable FPS. OpenGL is for me the best.
Widescreen
If you want widescreen, there is solution, it working with dgVooDoo
